Joe Alt is a future captain at Notre Dame.

The Irish open the 2022 season @ Ohio State.

I know he’s young and I hate to be that guy but something seems to be missing.  Nothing looks natural or smooth, between the footwork, pocket presence or throwing the football.

He is a great athlete but unfortunately there is a lot more to being a great qb and Kelly is not known for developing qbs. I hope I am wrong.

Alt and Fisher could be the best tackle tandem ND has had in a while.  That's a high bar too.

It was great to see Estime get in the game.  Dude is built like an NFL RB right now.

I really hope the staff puts the petal to the metal because the team is very close to taking the next step.

Like others have said, still need the QB to be at least above average after this year.  With a solid o-line, it will really help.

Way to bring down the party Mike lol.

Should be a hell of a game.

Foe him to preform like he has being thrown in as a true frosh portends All-American status  for him.

Just stating a fact.

Notre Dame has the best RB room in the country. I would not trade them for anyone. That stands even after KW23 goes pro. Even the incoming freshmen (Price) looks super good!

I am pretty quick to toot the play Buchner horn.  I was pretty disappointed yesterday against that defense.  Yea he did run great.  But the fumbling of the snap, the errant passes.  I'll admit I didn't get a chance to see every down he played due to work but what I did see I was disappointed.

Agree except for that run he wasn’t very impressive yesterday. I attribute it to all the second and third team players out on the field with him. Hope I am right.

Oh I didn't even realize that.  I saw a handful of plays with no sound.  In that case I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

If Pyne leaves after the season we are in deep shit. He is so natural and smooth with all the QB stuff, whereas Buchner reminds me of Hendrix but faster.

Really hoping Pyne might stay for his degree which I would bet on since there are no rumblings yet. I also pray the staff will be open to starting him, because if he hasn’t developed as a QB then Pyne is far and away the better choice.

I don't question the talent, I question Kelly's game preparation. The 2022 schedule includes games with Ohio State, BYU and Clemson.

Buchner missed a read to Colzie based on what Kelly said and I remember Colzie being wide open on that play with the errant throw.
As for the fumble, even Brees mentioned it, the kid has probably taken 20 snaps under center in his entire career
Finally, they definitely decided to give Estime the major load in the 4th quarter when the offense rarely had the ball due to the defense basically having two drives back to back with the scoop and score

I am still  high on Buchner and it is clear that he is the #2 based on the last two games. His lack of overall experience is noticeable, but also positive that he is this good with so little experience. Essentially only 1 year of varsity football (not sure what he did his freshmen year).

I don’t understand the fascination with Pyne myself.

Probably going to get boat raced unless the QB play improves greatly..

Better than playing the Buckeyes in November..

I think he played a different position.
