ND_JACK
Sweet! Now maybe I’ll get to Ireland. And we’ll play Navy the first game of the season.
Green Goblin
American media told me Fighting Irish was offensive to Irish people tho…
Krsta
This is the great news from my European point of view. Nine years ago I wasn't able to go to Dublin. Last year I bought ticket, but covid erased in the all the plans. Now I exactly now what I will do during the last August weekend. :)
jbrown_9999
I like it due to: 1) Good recruiting / morale boost 2) Play Navy first game, can focus on option in pre-season then forget about it 3) Off week afterwards I presume, help recover from any chop block injuries if possible
NDFootballGuy
Why is this a good recruiting tool? To me, this is an ND marketing ploy to "expand the Notre Dame brand." I'm sure this game is fun for fans and it's an excuse to go to Ireland, but I don't like it from a football perspective. If ND takes their bye week after this game, they lose the bye week mid-season, when it's needed the most. I'm also in support of dropping Navy. Last time they did this, I think ND had two bye weeks that season as they played this game in “week 0”

Flying to Europe to play a football game is different than what most schools do. So just something to help remind prospects that ND is different, with a national following. Probably also a good example to mention when talking NIL prospects. Not sure if you noticed that this game is played the week before the regular season starts, letting ND have two byes. One after Navy and one mid-season. From a football perspective, I like it since it allows ND to be done with the option after their first game. I also believe that it might give ND some extra practices since they play one week earlier. Since I believe that playing at Hawaii allows a team to have an extra game, I would be in favor of playing at Hawaii in Week 0 every year (which I think is allowed), giving ND an extra game so that they can make up for not having a conference championship game. Also allowing ND to start practice a week early (so I believe). Edited November 10, 2021 by jbrown_9999

Its just another thing to consider when picking a school. I doubt anyone is making their decision solely on this this but it is something to add to the mix.
