Its why a 210 pound midshipmen can compete with an NFL athlete? @ELDER06 @Rocketsan What do you think of the ND-Navy game?

Should they be on the schedule for saving ND? It’s understandable why we play them. I appreciate them. I also wonder is this a forever debt? Can there be a monetary position Nd can take to say thanks? What if ND does join the ACC? What then? Is that really going to be one of ND’s non-conference games every year? That may hurt especially if the ACC continues on the path of being terrible that it has been. Honestly, I would rather ND pay them off and the game be done. Or at least play them every three years or something. Even tell Navy when we do play you we’ll play wherever you like and we’ll pay you for your time in that game. If that’s how you have to sweeten the deal so be it. But playing Navy every year really does nothing for ND in the grand scheme of things. It’s become a pointless game sadly.

I respect the agreement but at this point it’s lose-lose for ND. Not sure at what point the debt is paid off. Probably never according to the “agreement”. but ND gets nothing for this game and if they happen to lose, oh man… Even when Navy is “good” we don’t get credit for a good win. add that to the injury risk from their style of play, I’d be okay with not plythem.

I'd say I agree with what SDIrishFan is saying. As much as I like seeing ND play any of the service academies, I just don't see the benefit. I understand the Navy agreement but do we still owe them a yearly game? I don't think so.
November 1, 20213 yr Guess I should explain a little better what I meant. The reason I like to see the games with the service academies is because of the service members involved. Most of them know that this is there chance on a big stage. Either at ND stadium or at an NFL venue. Playing against ND. They fight hard and they fight until the very end. They're playing a game they've played since they were young. The NFL is likely (not saying it doesn't happen) not in there future. The future they chose is to fight and defend our way of living. For that reason I do like to see the games but I realize there really is no benefit for ND.

Too much diving at the knees for my liking.
November 2, 20213 yr As a Marine Veteran I love the game. It’s the only game that I root against Navy. As an Irish fan I’m done with it. As others have said, it’s lose lose. If the Irish win they’re supposed to win. If the Irish lose its potentially season ending (as far as the CFP goes).

November 2, 20213 yr Author As fans We feel obligated have trouble finding the upside like it love it fear injuries glad when its over I think that describes navy week the best
November 2, 20213 yr We’ve jettisoned a lot of traditional rivalries. Navy should stay, even though I expect a serious injury every time we play them
November 2, 20213 yr This game needs to end. We've more than repaid our debt to Navy, and it's time to part ways. Here's the ironic thing about it ... the general public always gives us grief for playing Navy every year (even though we have yet to play a FCS team), but if we parted ways with Navy, I'd bet the general public and media would consider us the 'bad guy'. Funny how that works.

Tell Navy that in order to honor your commitment to playing them they must play UND the week before the off week so the kids can heal their bodies and get back into football shape before SC/Stanford. Swarbrick needs to be a bit more efficient with this scheduling. He hangs his hat on his independence. Use it to your advantage. Tell the ACC to kick rocks and lock those weeks in.
