I voted

  1. UGA
  2. Bama
  3. OSU
  4. OK
  5. Sparty

Bama is starting to peak.

OSU's O is enough to keep them in the top 4 conversation.

OK is winning vs a weak conference, but still not sure anyone other than the top 3 beat them. We'll see though soon, as they have a tough 3 game stretch, at least tough for the B12... I could see them losing any of the 3 games, or winning all 3 in close fashion.

Sparty with that running game and D can make it a game with any team not named Bama or UGA, but don't see them beating OSU in 3 weeks

Cinci is not impressive of late. Our current OL beats them in a rematch.

Oregon is a wildcard, but they're very vulnerable in several ways.

Gonna laugh if Wake crashes the party

I’m going to give the top 5 I think the committee will have on Tuesday.

1. Georgia

2. mich. St.
3. oklahoma

4. Oregon

5.  Alabama

6. Ohio st

7. Cincinnati

Ok the top 7. Lol. I think the committee is going to have a heck of a time deciding how to rank the 1 loss teams. I also think there is no way they are going to start cinn in the top 4.  I think Oregon will be 4 because they have the best win of any of the top teams.

if I were to list who I think the final 4 teams will end up being, I would go with your top 4 oKelley.  Maybe mich st instead of Ohio st. I think Ohio st can be punched in the mouth and mich st just might be the team to do it.

So how about trying to answer the actual question..

Who do you think are the best 5? Not best record or most deserving, who do you think is best.

1 - Georgia
2 - Alabama
3 - Ohio State
4 - Oklahoma
5 - Michigan State

This is how I see the top 5 coming out on Tuesday.  And I look forward to the games playing out in the coming weeks and changing these rankings.

I was going to ask who thought would be top five on Tues.  I could have just started another thread, but felt like it fit here instead of starting another thread.  I did mostly answer your question by saying who I think will be their in the end.

CFP is supposed to pick the best teams IIRC, so should be pretty close to what I listed.

  1. UGA
  2. Bama
  3. OSU
  4. OK
  5. Sparty

I could see Sparty and OSU flip flopping.

1. Georgia

2 Alabama

3. Ohio State

4. Oregon

5. Oklahoma

I don’t think Michigan State would beat any of those teams. Guess we’ll find out soon enough.

ranked teams resume upto this point with eye test.
1.) UGA

2.) Sparty

3.) Oklahoma

4.) Wake Forest

5,) Ohio State

best teams (eye test only)

1.)UGA

2.) Ohio State -

3.) Bama -

4.) Oklahoma

5.) can’t vote here missed too many games last week

Ohio State and Bama are leaps and bounds better than any one loss team in terms of Vegas odds etc.

Not sure how anyone could have Ohio State over Oregon....

Take the names away (and the acknowledgement that there was a head to head contest)

Team A lost to a top 10 team at home while they were struggling on defense and breaking in a new QB. Their best win is against a top 20 team on the road in rather decisive fashion. They've looked utterly dominant in their other contests.

Team B lost to a meddling 50-60th ranked team on the road. Their best win was against a top 10 team on the road without two of their best defensive players and have looked average in a majority of their other contests.

I think the head to head argument has some merit when the resumes are comparable, but they're not. The same reason FSU got in '93 and not Notre Dame. One team lost to a top 5 team the other to an unranked team at home.

Example: Oregon beats OSU and then loses to an undefeated top 10 Arizona State team on the road then you really need to give more credit to the head to head. The Stanford loss say more about the quality and focus of Oregons team than does the head to head contest.

Just because you beat a top 5 team, it doesn't give you the luxury to lay an absolute egg to a shit team and still stay ahead. It's not the end all be-all just one component of the ranking criteria.

Well said.  I am one to give credit to the head to head, the games have to matter.  But, you make a great point that the bad loss and mediocre play can negate the head to head win while the other team continued to dominate since the loss.  I also have no doubt that if the teams played this weekend OSU would not lose to Oregon again.

True. But look at Ohio States teams they have played since that loss.
3-5 Tulsa

2-7 Akron

4-4 Rutgers(wins are misleading)

5-3 Maryland

2-6 IU

5-3 Penn State(who now have lost three in a row)

Not exactly murders row

sure they Penn State there but Penn State might have 4 losses and out of the top25 this week.  5-3 Maryland please

To me, there best win is at Minnesota and Minnesota wasn’t the same team that it is now  Being their defense has gotten better.
That’s why head to head matters to me

I agree the head to head should matter.  That's why I want anything to happen that can happen to sabotage OSU lol
