Great until Coan starts missing wide open receivers again and Buchner gets smashed.

Not sure why Pyne isn't getting the start.. I mean he benched a 5* QB (Dayne Crist) for Tommy Rees.. surely it's not an athleticism issue must be something else.

I declare the duo name:  Cuchner

I guess that's better than Boaner 🤷🏼‍♂️.

I hear you on Pyne, but seriously on Crist???  Did you watch that moron play?  He was a head case…dude was afraid of his own shadow.  Remember when Navy dropped 8 and he kept running out of bounds???  Tommy Rees was ten times the qb Crist was, and that’s saying a lot considering all of the weaknesses in Tommy’s game.

Man I wish Weis would of had a chance with Crist. That’s the one thing that Weis knew. Talent and qb’s. Two things. I honestly think Crist would of been a hell of a player if Weis was able to coach him up. Oh well…

My guess is Coan is better at identifying coverages pre-snap and can adjust OL protection better than any of the three QBs (which is key with a struggling OL).  He's also a lot more accurate.  I'm fine with Coan as long as the play calling supports him.  Less option reads, more three-step drops, hit the flats, quick slants, fades to KA.

I hate this. Buchner will not develop and will be the guy holding the sign “we are gonna run a qb option”

Crist played under Weis in 2008 and 2009.  Starts for Kelly but gets injured in 2010.  Does nothing in 2011.  Transfers to Kansas to be with Weis and loses the starting position.

I think he had quite a bit of time with Weis…

After Kelly got a hold of him he was shot. Why else would Weis take him then?

Yeah I'm not really sure where I was going with this. I just have a gut feeling that Pyne is probably the better answer at QB but we (the fans) don't have enough sample size to venture/guess down that road and Coan's 4th quarter against VT really cemented his role as the starter for the next game or two anyhow. I was impressed.

Weis took him back at Kansas and was unable to do anything with him but that entire program was dog-shit.

What did Drew pyne do to kelly? Does anyone know. 🤔

I feel bad for Pyne because I’ve been Pyne. When you know you’re the better player at that time but the coach only wants the true division 1 player to play. Always hated coaches hard-ons for players just to prove they were right.  Example- I watched our short stop make 28 errors and hit .198 in a season because he was 6’3 220. The following year was about the same. Let alone the guy didn’t hit for power being that size. But he fit the “mold.”
Any ways. The true reason Pyne won’t see the field is he doesn’t want a qb controversy going into next year if Pyne succeeds. So Pyne will get fed up and transfer leaving what others have already said, a terrible depth chart problem.

But Kelly can always find his next starting QB from the transfer portal.

There’s far fewer Burrows and more Coan’s in the transfer portal if you get what I’m saying.

You also have to consider ND's academic restrictions.  A Sports Management major at OU doesn't necessarily translate to anything at ND.  You can pretty much cut out 75% of portal candidates due to academics alone.

Because….Kansas.  🤣😉
