So, just went back to the depth chart, because this game felt like we were fielding almost no one from the 2020 team that did so well. Players that were part of 2020 in bold:

DB- (Field) (6) Clarence Lewis (28) TaRiq Bracy

Is it just me, but with this many returning guys tonight’s showing makes no sense? LBs playing like it was their 1st game, DL out of gas so early, getting pushed around….what am i missing?

  • We lost a ton of starters.
  • 4 new starters on the OL
  • new QB
  • 2 new starters on the DL, and a new scheme, MTA moving outside
  • 2 new starters at LB
  • 3 new starters at DB
  • Several of our WRs were hurt a lot last year

only RB was untouched

I would have liked to think our returning (non starters) from 2020 would have gained from last year’s experience of  playing on a top 5 team.

The winning attitude, preparation, physicality, conditioning, etc

Guess i’m kinda shocked at the drop off

(ok, maybe not OL… but everywhere else, yes)

It's game 1 with a new D scheme and a new QB.

Lot's of change.

There were bright spots. Coan, Austin, Wilkins, Mayer (2 drops but still had stats), Foskey, Hamilton, Lewis, and we had a lot of QB pressure (and 5 sacks, which is twice the game avg from last year).

Shouldn't Rover Jack Kiser be in bold?

Missed that, thanks

(note: he wasn’t on the depth chart for 1st game of 2020…)

DJ Brown was playing SS on the long early FSU touchdown run. He was very slow to come up and fill the gap, which makes me wonder if the linebacker Simon had that responsibility. Either way, a safety has got to make that tackle as a last resort .
