Why does Buchner have to be Trevor Lawrence to start day one? There are plenty of freshmen that start every year and produce. Some are elite like Lawrence and others do a solid job and gain the exper

Wow we are gonna be bad.

Not 100 percent he starts day 1.

If he starts, we have issues. I live in Wisconsin and also love the Badgers . His arm strength makes Book look like Brett Favre.

We have issues I assure you. You know he will be the starter because Kelly won't want a Freshman or Sophomore to start if avoidable. Welcome to Mr. Coan.

I too live in WI, Coan has better touch on the deep ball than Ian, honestly they are not too different otherwise. Book is more quick while Coan is bigger, gives us a veteran presence in the QB room. I suspect Clark will start if healthy but Jack could win 10 games if our Oline and young defense gels.

What I know is against good defenses, his balls floated and he forced the ball. While his touch may be better, he can’t run to save his soul. I’m hoping this is just to push Pyne and Clark. With Coan I say 8-9 wins if Oline plays great and receivers develop.

I take highlight reals like this with a grain of salt. I saw many floating out routes, late throws, etc. while at times he looked great. Against Ohio State and Oregon he looked very mediocre. To me the highlight real was how underrated Cephus was as a receiver. He whipped Okudah last year. Cephus looked very good this year with the Lions. If it wasn’t for a false rape allegation and a slow 40 , he’s probably a 2nd-3rd pick. Ferguson is very underrated.. and Coan often had time to throw... and had Jonathan Taylor....

He reminds me quite a bit of Tommy Rees who was an 8-9 win guy for us. He'll have good weapons and a running game as I think the line led by Patterson, Lugg and Correll with a pleasant Surprise from Blake Fisher can be serviceable. so 8-10 wins seems reasonable. I'm not super ready to say playoffs next year but I don't think its a total bust

Not my top choice, really wanted MCaffrey or Hillinski. That said, at least there’s someone in the QB rotation with experience.

Good insurance on the young QBs. If they cant do it at least he has experience. 70% completion percentage so chances are he is pretty accurate.

They definitely have more upside but this is a great move. He has experience, can move and is accurate. Let’s also not forget he is surrounded by more talent here.

He might not even win the job, but he likely will because BK will trust him. Great insurance policy when we’re going into the season with so many unknowns.

As an Ex-Badger and avid fan of both UW and ND, this is a logical move and one I think will pay dividends for the Irish as they build up Buchner. While not as dynamic as McCaffery, did he ever indicate he was interested in ND? I haven't heard a peep living in MI and likely ND reached out and was told no. So with who's on the board, Coan fits, was a one time Lacrosse commit, so clearly can run, and gets to fulfill his earlier goal of suiting up for an ND Sport. Best of luck to him and GO IRISH!

I like that he's got actual game experience, something the other QBs on NDs roster don't have. ND has TEs, ND has RBs and ND has WRs so coan doesn't have to be joe montana he just has to give the ball to his playmakers and let them do all the work. I agree with the tommy reese comparison, not a strong arm but someone who can win ND games.

There’s not much out on McCaffery, Hillinski just entered the portal a few days ago. However, I wouldn’t be shocked if he ended up at USC or UCLA being from LA.
