He's kept things pretty quiet. He's down to ND, Michigan, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Penn State. Most seem to think it is down to ND and Michigan, with UGA a dark horse.

Some positives regarding ND: He has been in constant communication with ND for the last few weeks - talking to the staff (Lance Taylor) daily. He reached out to the staff around the Clemson game, so communication has been strong for the past 6 weeks or so. Many insiders think ND is surging and could be the surprise pick. A lot of this is due to ND being undefeated and likely going to the CFP - even if they don't make it, ND's program is so much stronger than Michigan's right now, especially with all the Harbaugh uncertainty. Also, if he was going to commit to Michigan the whole time, why not commit much earlier in the process and try to recruit more elite-level guys to build up a strong class?

Some negatives regarding ND: He hasn't visited campus this year - obviously it's harder due to COVID, but he made it up to Michigan for their big recruiting weekend (the weekend they got blown out by Wisconsin) and didn't make it up to ND for the Syracuse game. He's close with a few ND commits, but it sounds like he has much stronger relationships with the Michigan commits. Michigan is the home town team and has always been the perceived favorite, so ND would be the upset/surprise pick.

I haven't seen any insiders picking any team other than Michigan, but it sounds like most are picking them by default. Also, many have noted that ND is "surging" and could be the surprise pick if he goes anywhere other than Michigan. Michigan has always been the perceived leader, and Edwards has kept his recruitment really quiet, so he's given no reasons to alter that perception. The Midwest Analyst for 247 has a crystal ball pick in for Michigan and says he has no reason to change it, but he thinks Edwards hasn't made up his mind yet. He announces Wednesday, so we'll know soon enough. If he picks UM, then full court press on Estime, who just won the New Jersey player of the year and has really risen up the recruiting rankings (Top 250 on 247 Composite), so he would be no consolation prize, although Edwards would give ND a true Top 50 talent.

If Edwards sticks with the skunkbears, Estime is certainly not a consolation prize. Watch his tape. Have no idea how Michigan St got him to pledge so early, but this Jersey dude is the real deal and equal to Edwards in my mind!

Yeah, I love Estime's highlights too. He would do very well in our offense. I'm not sure how Tyree and Kyren hurt us with Edwards. He would still get carries in our offense - in fact it may hurt Tyree more if those carries get taken away from him. Michigan currently has Blake Corum who is a true freshman and seems to be their guy. They also have Zack Charbonnet who I think is a stud and is a sophomore. His carries dropped off for some reason this year and there were rumors of him leaving, but those were debunked.

Seems odd considering Harbaugh is a dead man walking.. Not sure the attraction given he has no idea who he may be playing for and what offense they may run...,

Also, heard that Harbaugh already has an extension in place. But because of Covid they were trying to keep it hush until the right time. Who knows if true, or if that’s what he is telling recruits.

Seems like the best of best of both worlds doesn’t it.

Yes, we have an extension. Oh, well we did, but you know COVID. On to the next guy who’s cheaper.

I can only assume that the ND staff knows more about what Edwards is thinking than he's sharing with the media/recruiting sites.

I hope that ND isn't jeopardizing Estime by waiting for Edwards.

Carter Karles has said that Edwards doesn't talk to anyone really. He said that Edwards is keeping his thoughts and feelings very close to the vest. ND recruits reach out to him and really don't get a whole lot. Karles said if anyone is predicting where Edwards is going, it is a complete guess because this kid isn't talking.

Yeah, it would seem that if the staff didn't feel comfortable with where they are, they would have offered Estime already. Not saying we will win this battle, but the staff probably isn't getting signals they are out of it yet.
