FaithInIrish Forever
As threads here have mentioned this has trap game all over it. Here's How I think ND avoids the trap. -Stop the run- Every week you'll see this because we want the opponent behind the chains -Make Phil try to do too much- You know Phil wants to prove ND made a mistake by not naming him the starting QB. Make him prove he can lead his team on 10-12 play drives to score. - Force Turnovers- Along with Phil wanting to do too much he could let the ball be stripped or throw a pick. I'd want Phil in the pocket and reading coverage as much as possible. I am a fan of "spying him" more then "Blitzing him" because I want him to hold the ball. -Continue offensive momentum. Rees has really been calling plays that fit his talent. Kyren Williams does remind me of Oregon's former RB LaMichael James so the outside zone with the RB moving to the QB makes alot of sense. Also the Jumped balls to Ben and Javon as well as the post to Avery Davis. All these plays fit these players skillsets so well. Then of course Mayer and Tremble being disruptive dominating safeties in the run game and linebackers in the pass game. Love to see Book in open formations. 4 Wide with 2 TE and 1 RB is my favorite. He can spread teams out, but if the other team goes small he just motions everyone into that power look. Good luck 3rd corner getting around Tremble or Mayer to get to Kyren and if you do he can run you over or make you miss. Your thoughts? Rocketsan
I’m in no way worried about this game. I think the defense is going to dominate. I think the o-Line is going to dominate. I think we win easily.

Just really curious to see how a rematch with clemson will turn out. Something I rarely hear anyone bring up is the fact that, while most conference teams end up playing a team on their sked twice in the same year (with the conf title game), we've never done so. Makes me wonder if already playing Clemson in the same schedule year could work out in both teams' favor as far as planning and tapering of butterflies. Synoptico
I actually think Phil being at BC HELPS Notre Dame. It helps them not overlook things.
Kelly Gruene
I wonder if ND goes with huddles again, possibly concerned that Phil was signaling in plays for ND for a couple years and could give BC some intel on that.
coltssb
I actually think Phil being at BC HELPS Notre Dame. It helps them not overlook things. Completely agree. They know his tendencies. He knows the defenses too. But I think Lea can scheme easier for him then him for us.
echo88
Will be a reminder that he could've been at the helm against Clemson twice with 3x the weapons he has at BC....and a defense to give him rest....

echo88
Well lets see how he plays first I don't think it is really debatable that he would fare better with the weapons we offer.

Just because he can play better, doesnt mean the team is better.
soulpatch
My read is based on Kelly's comments on Jurkovec in the presser. The defense is going to try to keep him in the pocket first (if successful, this should also stop the BC rushing attack which has been a weakness thus far), apply pressure second. As Faith said, 10-12 play drives run entirely off of Phil in the pocket is probably the goal. Offense is probably rush, rush and, hopefully, rush again. BC's rushing D doesn't look exceptional and long drives that A) lean heavily on the rushing attack and B) result in TD's seem like the likely goal. Incurorish
The whole team will be a little fatigued but still far better than BC. I'm looking to our O Line. Lean on the hoggies to dominate the LOS and allow the rush attack to takeover the game. I'd like to see Kyren out by the 3rd quarter. Rest the Bellyman and get Tyree and C'Bo some carries. I expect 150+ out of Kyren because of long runs and 100+ for Tyree.

Gotta say. lots of talent but he sure did bounce a lot of passes, which doesnt have much to do with the talent around him.
