Top teams are allowed to have "off games". Clemson was playing without their Heisman winning #1 draft pick and their off day still resulted in a W. They are going to bring hell with them next week and Book is lucky he's back to wearing Navy, because those grass stains would be a lot more unsightly in road white. I'm just hoping our D can step up and keep it respectable-looking....

I know Clemson is loaded with talent and should come with their A game. But first Syracuse with the upset possibility going into the 4Q, then the BC game coming down to the last possession. If they have that mindset, that they don’t have to play 4Qs against ND ......they’ll lose.

I get everyone who has the sentiment that if the Irish win this game sans Lawrence everyone is going to point to that as the reason. In all fairness it will most likely be the biggest factor in that outcome. However...

This cannot be ignored and should be the Irish rebuttal to all detractors. If this is how Clemson thinks, that they're so good that they don't need to bring it all 4 quarters, then they would have finally been burned while playing with fire.

I'm sure it won't be a problem though, unfortunately. This is why they play the games though so Go Irish.

Again, f**k everyone else. Just win, let the talking heads do what they do, they don’t matter. If we’re being honest, ND likely loses a potential rematch in the ACC Title game with a healthy Lawrence. However, a win this week and a close loss, should give ND enough of a resume for the playoff. The B12 is out of the picture, the PAC 12 won’t be in on their own merit. That leaves ND and the 2nd banana in the SEC (UGA, UF, A&M) battling for that last spot. This week either UGA or UF knock the other out and the winner still has to beat Bama, which won’t happen. So by process of elimination, ND and A&M would be the last 2. A&M got waxed by Bama and won’t have a high quality win. ND with a Clemson win and a close loss in the rematch, clearly has the edge

I agree. You can't blame a team for winning a game if the opposition is missing a key focal point player. Again, this is why they play the games. I hope they do win, obviously. I think it makes zero sense to want to lose this game because it somehow makes it easier to win the second time. Sorry but that isn't how it works. What if they lose the first one and then lose another game, there may not be a second game. Win this week and go from there.

I'm also leaning towards the group that thinks Kelly can't get it done though. I wouldn't say I am one of the extremes that hate him and wants him to fail but I am pretty skeptical of him. I am begging him to prove me wrong. He hasn't done it yet.

That’s completely fair.

Well, again, this year we will get to see them in the ACC title game if we somehow pull it off. What's most shocking to me is that a win over the struggling NC squad is dismissed as all but a guarantee. I think we lose to both Clemson and NC.

No one wants him to fail. He does that just fine by himself and most fans know it. We want him to prove that he can compete with top 10 teams. He's proven, without a doubt, that he can't.

I am not implying you said to lose this game because its better to win the second game. I don't recall who said it. Not even sure if it was in this thread or not but I do remember someone posting that they would prefer to lose this game and win the ACCCG because it is harder to win twice. I mean, yea, I would prefer to win the ACCCG too. I get their thought process on that and what they're trying to say, but there is no guarantee we make the ACCCG if we lose this one. Win now. Go Irish.

If we lose to Clemson this week and then lose to NC or god forbid BC(I don't think they will but I have seen people throwing it around this board) there won't be an ACCCG for us is Miami wins out.

I am just saying what other people on here have posted. "There are some Irish fans that want him to fail". I haven't seen anyone actually post that they want him to. That is what that comment was directed towards.
