Given that many people have said that Kelly's current recruiting is the best it has ever been and he has really good coordinators, does this mean that Kelly will finally win a "big" game and beat Clemson at home on Nov 7th?

If not, then when might he win another game against a team that will finish in the Top 10 at season's end? (Some of the current players were in 6th grade the last time that happened)

I think he can. The Wake game getting postponed did suck because it hurt our momentum but if we're able to avoid that we'll have a damn good chance to win.

No........

History tells us he will not do it.

We'll probably have the best DL and pass rush they will see this season. But we have to stay healthy. They have some great weapons on O with TL and Etienne. Their defense is really good and has arguably the best DC in college who's seen our O before and really limited us.

There is always hope. I liked this game much better before Covid took our crowd away. Something about big games in Rock's House gives us some added oomph.

Not a damn chance...

This isnt a reg top 10 team. This is the number 1 team and program in the country. Witg the best QB in the country. It will take a herculean effort on our part. UNC might be a top 10 win

The question is....do we want to beat Clemson at home? Obviously I would love to beat Clemson but if we do and then we win out we will face Clemson again in the ACC champ. Beating a team twice in one season is very hard. It might actually be better for us to lose a close game at home and then win the ACC title.

Well we aren’t beating them in the ACC championship game so we better. We do have the longest home winning streak at the moment, so if we’re ever gonna win a game like this under Kelly, this would be it.

I think it’s a one score game either way.

For those who are curious, here is BK's record against teams that finish the season ranked in the AP Top 10. Final ranking in parentheses.

2010: Stanford, L 14-37 (#4)

2011: USC, L 17-31 (#6); Stanford, L 14-28 (#7)

2012: Stanford, W 20-13 (OT) (#7)

2013: Michigan State, W 17-13 (#3); Oklahoma, L 21-35 (#6)

2014: Florida State, L 27-31 (#5)

2015: Clemson, L 22-24 (#2); Stanford, L 36-38 (#3)

2016: USC, L 27-45 (#3)

2017: Georgia, L 19-20 (#2)

2018: N/A

2019: Georgia, L 17-23 (#4)

Record: 2-10 (Away: 0-6; Home: 2-4)

If ND beats Clemson at home but loses to North Carolina then they will play NC not Clemson in the ACC championship game.Right?

There are no divisions in the ACC this year so the two teams with the best record go to the title game. If teams are tied then it goes to head to head vs common opponent. The tie breaking gets way more confusing after that. Chances are we won't have teams tied at the end. My worry is Miami....if we lose to Clemson we can't lose by more than Miami did.

If Kelly is not being given a chance to win a game at home against Clemson then how will he ever win two CFP games away from home?

Maybe he can use his previous experience in CFP and BCS championship games to guide him since he did so well in those games?

Hey, we lose close most of the time! Participation trophy is the ND way in big games.

No chance we beat Clemson. We aren’t on their level with depth. Talented depth is what is needed to compete with the elite. We have some talented guys but we get worn down. Add in the fact that BK usually does a poor job in getting the team ready to compete in big games, this gives us a very low chance of winning.

BK will give the typical “we just have to stay calm, do what we do, take care of ourselves, everybody do your job, approach it like any other game” routine. Book will play **** poor as always in big games and we won’t be able to stretch the field. Lawrence will pick apart our defense and Etienne will gash us all day long.

Why do we expect anything different to happen???

Not a damn chance...

yep and I don't think it will be a close game. He will also lose to UNC.

Let's deal with one loss at a time.

But I agree :-?

God, you’re a b1tch. What’s UNC done that’s so impressive this yr? Giving up over 40 pts to a Va Tech team w/o 15 players? I think they’ll lose to Clemson, rather handily, but you’re flippant attitude makes me sick.

They just don’t have the talent to take on Clemson, but it doesn’t look like anyone does. Maybe OSU? Have to wait to see them play.

I agree overall on this. However, teams with lesser talent rise up and upset teams with better talent all the time. It just doesn’t ever happen with us. When was the last time an ND team beat a team that was more talented than us? I honestly can’t remember. Maybe Okl in 2012?

At some point you would think we would have an upset/big win in there.

Notre Dame doesn't have the luxury of sneaking up on teams and teams dropping their level of play when we come to town. We get their best
