I have to think listing 5 RB's on your depth chart and choosing to start the receivers likely to block well, says to me that Saturday might be a running back focused offensive gameplan.

Doesn't shock me because in the bowl game Rees called runs on several consecutive plays to open the game.

When Austin comes back that could shift but I think the running back will be involved in both the run and pass early. Thoughts?

Is that means the team can pick up short yardage situations this year then that sounds good. Force Ds to load the box and go over the top with the speed of Lenny?

We'll find that out together I sure hope so. I think they want to be able to play Lenzy all over and hit some home runs.

Yeah it's a safe bet to see them run quite a bit first game. Get Ree's feet wet along with getting the game plan going. Also, with all that has happened this year. Running is never a bad option if you can do it.

Yeah I can't imagine everyone has an elaborate playbook this year. Reps have been limited, no spring ball, so I expect things to be kept simple. If there was a year to promote Rees and simplify the offense this was it

With the kind of surreal atmosphere going into this truncated season...frankly, i have no idea what to expect which is ok, i do expect a seasoned performance from our QB but looks to me lots of question marks all over as well.... in any case.im just grateful we will have some football for awhile at least....looking forward to the game and pretending things are normal for a Saturday.

Yes and especially when the best part of your team is the offensive line (IMHO)

Amazing on how that promotion might of benefited ND. Regardless of the playcaller, i'm confident in Book to get the guys in the right position.

I agree. I think Book will do well. I just think too much was made about Book needing to be a superstar last year.

Long was pushing him to throw deeper, hit a home run this resulted in completion percentage REGRESSION, Long FIRED. Glad he's healthy, alot of deep reads mean you hold on to the ball and scramble

Book needs to be himself. Which will be very good.

Wasn't some of the need to throw downfield due to how defenses started to play versus Book?

Agreed. But if you have a real running game. the play-action historically takes care of that. Book was our second leading rusher last year which is asking for trouble.

Believe me, if we can't run it we will be spread out again and Book will be superback again, QB/RB etc and lose extra games. If the running backs compliment Book he will be successful.

You are correct and it was to give us an opportunity to take advantage of some defense’s lack of skill/speed
