They aren’t identical. The QB position is where there’s the biggest deviation. ND probably is pretty close at OL, and maybe some of the skill positions

I’m the childish one for defending a coach who got ND to the playoff last yr instead of splooging all over a guy who has 1 big win in the regular season?

I like Rhule, Campbell and Fleck. Not sold on Brohm, his offences are good but I’m not sure he can recruit like the other guys.

 

Keep an eye out for Dave Clawson, that guy is a sleeper. Same goes for Satterfield.

 

Unfortunately, this discussion is probably 2+ years away from being serious in terms of ND.

 

Kelly won 12 games last year. Not counting retirement or sexually-related scandal (student's death and academic fraud doesn't seem to do it), Kelly will probably not be let go either next year or the year after.

 

So it will be interesting to see how this year's crop of up and coming coaches do in 2022 at any new schools for them since year three seems to be the magic year for a new coach.

 

But I am hoping for a Kelly retirement after 2021 so ND can dream of a championship in 2024.

They’ve lost close games vs elite teams. The Clemson and Michigan games were embarrassing, but it doesn’t entirely erase the progress made.

All we know is that Kelly has not recruited better than Top 15. A different coach who worked harder at recruiting and has more charisma could probably recruit consistently in the Top 10.

 

It is your opinion (probably based on made up facts) that ND cannot recruit in the Top 5 or Top 10.

 

If you bothered to look at past recruiting results rather than make stuff up, you would see that schools go up and down in the recruiting rankings and that the number factor behind these moves is the head coach.

 

Just because ND has been basically recruiting Top 15 for the past 10 years, all that means is that Kelly is a Top 15 recruiter at ND. Different coach different result.
