I cant imagine anyone will try to do that

I have seen at least 4 passes, where a moderately accurate QB makes the throw and our guys would go for a TD. We need something else... anything else.

He is sh@t. Not worthy of Nd starter

He plays scared when passing. Good runner though.

Nowhere near a top level, even a top 25 QB. Which is pathetic that we can't trot out better than this.

I don’t understand why he can’t put it together consistently. I’ll give him credit for that final drive, but overall he was not good today. Those 2 Ints were bad. I also think Claypool has bailed him out so often he takes his ability for granted. No more jump balls on Post routes and no more of those god dam Sprint out passes to the flat

This is what I've noticed with my naked eye. We need to play up tempo with Book. He's that type of personality. He needs the ball quick and in his hands so he doesn't have to think or make too many decisions.

Book hasn’t been good, but as critical as I have been he’s getting no help.

Long is designing plays for Finke, he has no support from his o line or running backs, and a guy like McKinley who gives him easy jump ball completions gets one target!?!?

He gets 1/3 of the blame along with Long and Quinn/ the o line.

He’s great when he’s in rhythm, you think Long would know this by now but he doesn’t.

Better than Wimbush and Zaire... ???

Sure, but not by much.

I read an article about Jurkovec and it seemed to indicate that Kelly has no trust in his abilities right now. Poor mechanics were mentioned but I don't remember the other faults he might have. Not sure another QB besides Book is an option this season, unfortunately.

Book seems to be more concerned with scrambling or escaping the pocket vs hanging in the pocket and letting a downfield route develop. The part I don't know is if receivers are actually open downfield. Opposing defenses know if they pressure Book, he will scramble or look to check down.

From what I have seen of Kelly's ability to pick out the best players this tells me Phil should be starting. I hope he transfers out and does something with the rest of his career and proves Kelly wrong. Why is he sticking around for this **** show?

I don't care about Kelly thinks about any QB. He's almost always wrong.

Actually, by a lot. To say otherwise is nothing but emotional sour grapes...

You can add those to the list of top ten HS qbs he recruited who were “flops” I guess. Really starting to get on board with those that say Kelly can’t coach qbs. He did hire Tommy Rees as qb coach so that says a lot.

I still think he should be the starter, but it’s not like he’s done anything to increase the demand for him.

I'm not pretending this would be a list of Hall of Famers elsewhere, but can we honestly say any of these QBs showed improvement year-over-year? Tommy might be the only player you could argue got better, and most of the other QBs regressed. It seems to me that as this trend continues, more focus should be on the staff than criticizing the players. I recognize that Book isn't getting the ball out decisively and seems to be missing some windows. However, I think lack of QB development has officially become a trend.

Also, our top two QBs right now are a former Mike Leach commit who can't throw the ball downfield, and the #4 QB in his class who has suddenly had to rework his fundamentals in year 2? WTF?

I will say this: The weather gets worse and worse over the year. So, that is one obstacle to improving over the course of the year. For example the wind was very strong yesterday and it is even stronger at field level at ND stadium from my experience. It was also snowing. That being said, there were tons of guys wide open that Book over, or under threw typically on vertical-like routes. He's just not a very good vertical passer. And - like all Kelly QB's- he's turning the ball over more as his career progresses.

I also think we're seeing the crony factor of the Quinn hire setting in. The offensive line is worse, and it's not because the two guys got hurt. It should be the strength of the team, but it has regressed. I suspect it will be worse next year.

Said i wouldn’t watch if Book remained starter and yet I did and saw more of the same. We were lucky to come with a win, real lucky.

Downside of that is BK will use this to convince everyone he was right and Book lives to “fight” another day.

I dont give a sh.t what issues BK might have w/ J’s mechanics, give him playing time and let him develop. We are at Book’s ceiling. Hell, ceiling has fallen on our faces.

Plus, Long and Quinn must go. At the very least Quinn.

And if nothing changes, BK should be next.
