Posted October 23, 20195 yr comment_707632 Watching it on ESPN right now. I think they are doing a good job of informing viewers of ND's history and why they are who they are- Independent, hated or loved. A pretty good watch for ND fans.
October 24, 20195 yr comment_707654 Just watched it. I thought it was really well done, and was mostly pleasantly surprised. I thought it was pretty fair all the way around. My only two issues were the inclusion of the Manti Te'o girlfriend hoax. I get why they did it - to illustrate that the media is obsessed with Notre Dame - but I thought that was pretty bad to include that. I also hated the blurb from Ivan Maisel about some random Forbes list from 2017 ranking the top academic and athletic universities where Notre Dame was ranked 11th (behind schools like Michigan, North Carolina, and Penn State). Besides those two things, I thought it was interesting and well done.
October 24, 20195 yr comment_707655 Enjoyed this and thought it was a fair look at Notre Dame and showed why Notre Dame is so important to college football. Obviously it was only an hour long and they had to skim and skip over some key aspects in the history of the program. That got me thinking has their ever been an in depth Ken Burns kind of documentary about Notre Dame football? If there isn’t there really should be, Notre Dame is such a large piece of Americana that it actually kind of deserves it.

He was a player or blip on history of University rich with history. They might as well added Declan or the frozen 5. In no way was the Manti situation groundbreaking for Notre Dame. Neither was Forbes list you mentioned. But I get their points. They can’t make it a puff piece. But if they wanted to add something of value to that nature, I would had preferred how ND is changing into more of an Academic university of something. Not a blip of a rare occurrence.

Today, ND’s requirements are much harder than nearly every other university, with Stanford being one of the only exceptions, and ND’s reputation as an elite academic institution has only increased in the last 25 years, as they are currently ranked as the #15 university in the country by U.S. News.
October 24, 20195 yr comment_707660 The Manti stuff was more personal to Manti than the point they were trying to make. I feel bad for the guy living with that for the rest of his life, instead of how great of a player he was. Was in talks for the Heisman as a defensive player, should be known for that. He was a victim, very naive but didn’t hurt anyone.
