Guest TDJesus3
Ok try this on for size kid is wearing a blue jacket gold tie, very ND like about to go announce, after his plans had all been messed up because the seocnd location couldnt provide what was needed wanted to announce on ESPN and couldnt so is forced to go to his high school and announce before he goes in, coach and dad have a talk with him here is where my speculation comes in, the above is all fact before i stated it had to do with the UNC coaches, i no longer think that is totally the case, i think he was ready to pick ND, and was talked down by his dad and his coach, not because they dont want him to go to ND, but because they knew the reaction would be bad from all the high schoolers who had been brought into the gym for the announcment, because they knew that he would have to live this down, all the same crap GG takes for picking ND. I honestly think it was pushed back because it wasnt the best situation for GLittle to announce then and there in front of those people, it wasnt the best situtation to live with it the rest of the season, while in January all the pressure is off and he can just go to ND without all the ridicule. We talk about this all the time, how these kids get beat up in the local press and in there high school by choosing ND over in State U, GG talked about it, Kerry Neal has talked about being a marked man, I think Little was told that ND will be there for him in January, and that there is no rush (something we always here from the irish staff) and that it will be best for him to just wait until january. this is what i think, you guys got any thoughts? nd1baby
Yes. Quite possible indeed. He took the pulse of the crowd and didn't like it. I watched GG's announcement and the crowd was definitely in favor of his SCAR choice.
Guest JerseyDomer
Does make complete sense. He is the best player in the state too. But also, it could come back to why even schedule it in the 1st place. I'm for buying this theory though. I just don't see him not choosing ND. Guest shark83
I sort of thought the same thing TD. Clausen announced at the College Football HOF and I highly doubt he gets the same level of cheers and claps from local media, schoolmates, etc... if he picks ND in the state of Cali, especially w/ ND being USC's rival. Another good point you brought up was Gary Gray's situation. Gray went from being the stud of SCAR's '07 class to being "undersized, not that good" once he decommited. Fortunately for Gary he will only have to put up with it for a few more months before he early enrolls. I mean lets be honest here, ND was going against a state school. Can you honestly here little saying to the North Carolina media, "I will be playing for Notre Dame next fall"? (Silence, crickets chirping, and maybe a slow clap if lucky). Guest CW4Life
That is probably the most thought out opinion on the matter that I have read on here. Thanks for putting it into that perspective TD it makes alot of sense. I hope he doesn't wait until Jan though.
dangeruss
it's sad to think that that was the case if it's true. i wish these hometown fans would just lay off these kids, after all they are only kids trying to do what they feel is best for THEIR future. i would like to see GL come to ND but i'd rather he do what he feels comfortable with. best of luck to him. Guest medvnd
I'd like to believe it, and I think it's very astute of TD to think this through, but I still think Bunting has this kid's ear. Why else would Little choose to take the official with his parents to UNC this weekend? I know he's very close to Chapel Hill, so it's not like he needs to sacrifice to get there, but it still indicates he is truly undecided, or at least that he's willing to leave the door open. Guest SirJohn
Hmm. Could be true medvnd. And it was a good post TD. By way If you were accidently skipped in a welcome. Welcome.
Guest medvnd
Thanks, Sir John. I've been a regular, even a moderator, on a couple other ND boards, but DD has converted me wholesale. It's really the only place I look these days because it always has the best inside info. Broke and TD certainly deserve the "legend" appellation, and Chiro and El Senor are always good for a laugh. Well TD I can go with what you have to say. But,Will Cw wait until JAN.We did get burned last year and is Cw willing to go through with that again.Cw would have to have this kids almost [signature ]As his promise. If you know what i mean.I guess I can wait till Jan.Maybe this is all part of what Cw wants also. MikejND
TD you make a really good point. The reason I say this is because, there's no way possible that he went into the press conference not knowing where he wanted to go, or what he wanted to do. He was aware of all these things going on with the coaching staff.. There is a lot on his shoulders, and I think his coach thinks it's best that he waits till after his season, and basically the AA game... But we'll see, I'm sure something will come out. Scotty88
Good points TD, makes alot of sense. Unfortunately CW has created a recruiting monster...looks like we might have to get used to waiting until Jan to hear on a number of our commits. This is how it goes w/ top tier guys. If Little gets ND, he'll announce Irish in January and all will be forgotten. If not, we move on..I'm sure Weis is on top of everything. Little seems like a great kid, I hope he's not getting shelled on other ND sites....let's give him the respect that many of the NC homers wouldn't have if he chose Irish today. I am feeling you TD on all points here. This is why I have this strong 'gut' feeling that Marc Tyler will still be Irish! I have attended a couple of the game at Oaks Christian, and yes, the school is within the realm of the Trojans. They have their hands all up and down the ajoining counties here in SoCal. Peer pressure in football decisions like Little's are harder than saying no to drugs and alcohol. Unlike drugs and alcohol, there is a strong sense of comaradarie among high schools, communities and even statehood. Look, North Carolina may not be Texas or Oklahoma in regards to high school football...but they still have 'Friday Night Lights' there. It does matter to those around...especially the 'fanatics!' Like I mentioned on another post...Notre Dame has always had the privilage of being patient. It may have back fired once or twice, but its nice to be able to say to a recruit...'Listen son, take your time, we will wait on you'. Must be a nice option from being pressured, hounded and constantly pestered?
Rockne3d
TD, as always well said. Med, welcome to the DD. Happy to have you and hope to see alot of you on the boards. Also, your kind words are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
MikejND
I just saw what he was wearing to the press conference a bit ago. He looked irish all the way. There was nothing that said UNC but probablly his high school.
Guest NDLawJAG
His decision will be much easier when UNC fires Bunting at the end of the year. They are 1-4 so far this year with a win over Furman and things do not seem to be looking up.
jfschellcrna
by the look of the faces on that picture it seemed like his family probably didnt want him to make an early decision for nd and incur the wrath of a high school crowd obviously pro no.car.
