My buddy called me last night and said he read an article that a top cornerback recruit from last year, (he thought the name was Garvin) was interested in transferring to ND. I actually have 2 questions. 1.) Has anybody heard about a cornerback transferring to ND and 2.) what are the rules at ND for transferrs. I know the BB team has taken a few the last few years but I didn't think the football team did. My enquiring ND mind wants to know.

I heard something of the same nature..however I dont think we take junior college transfers into the football program..would be interested if someone could shed some light on this..

I am not sure. I know we do not take JUCO's. If transferring from one division 1 to another I think it was that they have to sit out a year??

Toby. Here's the NCAA ruling on transfers. (Although it keeps saying ino is out of date?) I read it as the kid must sit out a year if from one 4 year college to another. Which would not really do much cause if he was able to play he still is too far behind in Weis playbook. It's in pdf if you want to wade through it. I believe there is an appeal system to play immediately, but even if granted again he would be light years behind even a freshmen player at ND

Word around campus was that Urban was getting lowballed by the admins ($1 mill/year from the Irish vs. $2 mill/year from the Gators), and wanted to be able to load the program with anybody he wanted. The two most popular demands of Urban:

1) Lowered standards for a few (3-5?) recruits every year.

2) No questions asked for 1 or 2 players a year. Could very well included jucos.

When ND refused to give him either the extra $1 mill/year or the players he thought he'd need, he went to Florida...

thanks for the info guys. i knew the rules on transferrs but i was just curious to see if the football team was going to take a few in like the basketball team does. i know they won't let juco's in but i was just wondering about letting a kid transferr from another d-1 school

Here's a disgusting aspect on transfers resulting from Katrina. I am sorry to see some Southern Scholls behave in this manner when things are serious elsewhere.
