Illinois just landed QB Nathan Bussey as an athlete. this doesn't seem like a big deal but Nathan Bussey is Arrelious Benns high school QB. it seems that Illinois will stop at nothing to land Benn.

Yeah, but he won't be playing QB in college. If I remember right, he is expected to play DB. Not sure on which position, just know it is not QB.

I believe Bussey projects to be a safety at the next level.

 

According to his scout profile he only had one other offer from a MAC school (Kent St.). Bit it of stretch for Illinois to offer this kid. One of the their coaches, Mike Locksley, is from the DC area, so I'm sure they have a shot at Benn with all these things going in their favor (Including Benn's best friend, Vontae Davis, playing CB for the Illini).

 

There fans think that have such a good shot at Benn lol. Benn signing with the Illini is merely a pipe dream.

benn will have ample oppportunity to drive a couple of hours to go see his friends play for a coach who should be in charge of a division 1AA program. no worries, his mother will make sure of that. i saw his video. nuff said.

i reall doubt in three years illinois will be beating out michigan and ohio st. for the Big 10 championship. but if illinois does turn into a good team it'll really hurt ND in recruiting.

really scotty?? i saw zook's act in florida. the guy's a moron. he had a slew of incredible talent at his beck and call and guess what? they sucked. charlie just needs to show this young man the way and he'll be fine.

I just cant believe he's impressed, or actually believes that, they could really be NC contenders in three years. I dont know what Zook is doing to Benn but I give him credit. If Benn ever chose Illinois over us. I wouldn't be angry, but feel bad for him being brainwashed.

I see it like this. I think he really was choosing between Illinois and Notre Dame. Of course with us having a big lead. I think he left illinois with his mind made up of where he wanted to go. I think he takes the visits to Florida St. and Maryland for the experience. He's close to Maryland, and he already threw FSU offensive under the bus. I know he wants the visits.

I completely agree jf, they are alot further out than 3 years! I believe Benn will be Irish just like I believe Mike Williams will commit shortly after this weekend's visit. I just saw the article and thought it was worth noting.

i hope we land benn and i think that he really likes ND but it's not like we lost guys in the past who we thought were ND locks. i feel good about our chances but i'll feel much bette when its over.

There is no reason to be pissed off if he chooses the illini. Just have to applaud Zook for closing him on the direction that he is trying to take the Illini.

 

Plus I am positive that if we do not land him we will land a WR that will be just as good of a fit as Benn would've been.
