Supposedly hired to be the new defensive coordinator at Louisville. I'm reading that BVG was on Petrino's staff with the Atlanta Falcons as LB coach. Personally, I find it hard to fathom why anyone would bring him on as a DC.

Guess Bobby boy wants continuity. His defense gave up close to 40 ppg this season and he hired the right guy to keep those stats the same this year.

Petrino must have brain damage from that motorcycle wreck. F**k Van Gorder.

Lol and people were actually calling for Petrino to be our next head coach around here at one point. What an unbelievably terrible hire

I am happy for the hire. ;)

Gonna be fun to him get torched in 2019 by us. If he lasts that long...

Congrats Lville on hiring a poor recruiter who runs a D so complex even intelligent football players can't pick it up. I'd fire Petrino for making this hire.

Let's not write this move off so fast. Perhaps after many years of coaching, BVG underwent a period of self examination and has re-invented himself and his approach to football by doing yoga and painting this past season. Who knows, maybe he will do an above average job next season and expect that improving from very bad to above average will make everyone forget his recent history of mediocre results.

This brought a smile to my face, but damn was it an angry smile lol.

Louisville is one of those programs that generally is satisfied with reaching for the low hanging fruit and BVG fits that bill pretty well. It's more of a basketball school.
