A report from Outside the Lines revealed that at least 16 Michigan State football players have been accused of sexual assault or violence against women since HC Mark Dantonio took over in 2007.

Outside the Lines discovered this information through interviews and public records requests. In Paula Lavigne's article on the investigation, she writes, "Even more [than the troubling number of accusations], Dantonio was said to be involved in handling the discipline in at least one of the cases several years ago." When asked about how his program was handling alleged incidents involving four players last summer, Dantonio said that "[t]his is new ground for us" and that "it has not happened previously." Michigan State AD Mark Hollis retired on Friday in the fallout from the Larry Nassar's child molestation sentencing earlier this week. Given the environment and the information that is coming to light, Dantonio's job security should very much be considered tenuous.

Why? He’s is a great coach. Make ND great again. President has 19 accusers of direct sexual assault, no one is crossing him off lists.DD supports him to the fullest. No one said Dantonio assualted them personally, just employees/players being indicted. Either call a spade or sit in the corner.

Tim Izzo could shoot a guy in the middle of 5th Avenue and wouldnt lose a single Spartan fan. Not sure I could say the same for D'Antonio.

And you were where during the Clinton years?

Neither Coach is going anywhere and both addressed the matter yesterday. As far as Dantonio, it wasn't a lack of action, it was the manner in which procedures which were followed. In the case of student athletes and their accusers, both are entitle to privacy so just because something happened and wasn't made public, doesn't mean disciplinary action wasn't taken.

Same goes for multiple schools.

I agree with this in general. However, those of us outside of the internal workings of MSU don’t really know what policies and procedures exist and whether all of those policies and procedures were followed by all parties involved. It sounds trite to say that but that is exactly what investigations look at. All it takes is a failure by one or two key individuals and all of the sudden the investigation ends up at the feet of the coach for lack of oversight. This does apply at every school, but MSU is the school du jour under the microscope.

And in today’s environment the microscope has a very high power lens.

And you again show how neutral you are, just like Switzerland. I couldn’t vote yet during the Clinton years. Is there another Clinton that is president now? I can’t tell, seems like Clinton won the way you people talk about them (well I guess she actually did win). I’m more of a Obama person myself, great economy, high morals, the perfect Christian. No one, not one has accused him of sexual assault.

Ha, Izzo will get some pass for sure. I am surprised about Izzo though, the man seems like a guy with integrity, so I would personally like a Little mor info on the situation before I would call for his head. Dantonio however has shown in the past he is similar to Urban Meyer.

There seems like there was a systemic effort-from the President to the Coaches to the City Prosecutors to protect athletes from consequences. Reading how Travis Walton got an assault charge pleaded down to littering was pretty astonishing.

I would not be so sure about them not going anywhere. It a matter of days, the MSU president and AD resigned. Remember: The fish stinks from the head down. And in this current social climate, heads are rolling at a dizzying pace.

I guess we could debate these points in the Open Forum section if you want. I don’t want to hijack this thread and I was not the one who inserted politics into this conversation. I did respond in a simple way to your calling out DomerDomainers and inserting Trump into a thread about the Michigan State football coach.

This thread appears to be about what standards an ND coach has to be and people on this board standards for what they want in a football coach. I was simply pointing out the double standard that exists, some want a football Coach held to higher standards here than the president.

Can’t you take it to open?

Why? It is a correlation. Why should Dantonios job status be in jeopardy or ruled out as a head coach of ND if the president has been accused of much worse. Simple morality question that is a valid comparison. If anything, I brought a bigger question, why do we hold entertainers, athletes, coaches or whatever to higher standards than politicians just because we lean one side or the other.

You know the answer to this question. Its called hypocrisy and it exists on both sides, more than ever w DJT.

Yeah you might be right. While the press here trends towards Michigan, they generally treat MSU and Dantonio pretty well. Seems the tone is changing a bit and the scrutiny is about to increasing.

When’s James Franklin going to get his day?

Brian Kelly gets a lot of **** about Prince Shembo, who inappropriately fondled a girls breast against her wishes.

But the James Franklin supposedly had his players destroy incriminating evidence of a sexual assault, and more than likely contacted the victim, which is amazing! And nothing?

Franklin is a POS.

You keep forgetting, even with no scandal, he's in his 60s. That's too old to start again at a major program.
