Posted January 9, 20187 yr Seems like there may be some more additional spots available for the final recruiting push. I know ND is going after a CB and OL. There was a new offer out to a few DL. What are people's expectations for the final push now that the NC game is over and recruiting is about to pick up full steam.

With ASB going to USC that takes him off the board. The next option would be Tuliaupupu. After that you have Keys and Bush at WR, Spencer Webb at TE/DE, and Malik Langham at DE. I believe they round out the class with some sort of combination of these guys. Could only be the first two or Boykin if they don't land Irvin.

Is there thoughts that he is waiting to see how serious the situation is before he decides how important it is for him to stay close to home. In other words, if it ends up not being as serious as first expected, would he still want to come to South Bend?
January 9, 20187 yr I know Irvin postponed his decision due to a family situation that is thought to be serious. Is there thoughts that he is waiting to see how serious the situation is before he decides how important it is for him to stay close to home. In other words, if it ends up not being as serious as first expected, would he still want to come to South Bend? The reports are that he was set to sign with ND until the stuff with his mother happened. Then he almost signed with USC to stay close to home. Decided to wait it out until Feb. USC probably leads right now because of this, but ND will have their chance to re-win him over starting next week. Irvin's mother, reportedly is doing much better. My gut says Irvin stays close to home now though and ND tries there best to flip Boykin. Edited January 9, 20187 yr by LasVegasIrish
January 9, 20187 yr Author Also interested in seeing if any new prospects pop with with the DC settled (someone who liked who Elko vetoed) or if a new assistant is hired and brings over any contacts.
January 9, 20187 yr If we close with NPF and then just get a good head start on 5 Star defensive ends, running backs, and safety then I’m good.
January 9, 20187 yr Also interested in seeing if any new prospects pop with with the DC settled (someone who liked who Elko vetoed) or if a new assistant is hired and brings over any contacts. I'm curious as well, now that someone from the Elko tree has been hired that guys like tuliaupupu are familiar withI'm wondering if it will help to land him
January 9, 20187 yr I'm curious as well, now that someone from the Elko tree has been hired that guys like tuliaupupu are familiar withI'm wondering if it will help to land him Solo is on record stating that he had a closer relationship with Lea than Elko, and that this helps ND chances even more. Still gonna be a dog fight with USC
January 10, 20187 yr I hope we land NPF, another DB (Irvin or Boykin) a WR since we lost ESB and maybe Solo
January 10, 20187 yr Solo is on record stating that he had a closer relationship with Lea than Elko, and that this helps ND chances even more. Still gonna be a dog fight with USC Good to hear, and agree about the dogfight. I see a lot of cb's going usc's way even from the nd guys
January 10, 20187 yr CB, OL and WR then best available. WR may be in the best available department if the staff was already planning ahead for ESB.
January 10, 20187 yr If I was guessing today, I would say ND finishes with Keys, Boykin and than either NPF or Jarrett Patterson
January 10, 20187 yr Good to hear, and agree about the dogfight. I see a lot of cb's going usc's way even from the nd guys Solo would be a great get for Lea and a cherry on top of his promotion to DC
January 10, 20187 yr Have to think HH going to the NFL all but eliminates ND for NPF. Maybe he was waiting to make his decision to see if he left
January 10, 20187 yr Have to think HH going to the NFL all but eliminates ND for NPF. I'd agree at this point, late in the game
January 10, 20187 yr I'd agree at this point, late in the game If I were a high end recruit, I don't think I'd sign on the early sign date, because coaches may leave. Elko and Hiestand are perfect examples. Yes, I know that coaches can and have left after the February signing date too, but it sure is a lot easier for them to leave after kids have signed their papers in December.
January 10, 20187 yr This will effect NPF's recruitment a little for sure, but considering the type of kid he has been reported to be, it shouldn't surprise anyone if he ends up at ND regardless. Academics is big part of his recruitment, and I don't think HH was the main factor in his ND interest.

This early signing period helped us this year, but you know how skittish our recruits tend to be. It takes a perfect storm of infield success, stability and X factors for us to land top end talent at positions outside of QB, TE and OL.

Depends on what type of recruit I am. If I am a 3 star, yeah I probably would. If I had a dream school, yeah. Others, would probably hold off.
