When Saban pulled Jalen Hurts in the second half for a True Freshman, it was really a breath of fresh air to see Hurts always being the first one to congratulate and cheer on Tagovailoa

And I really believe it was genuine and not just trying to hide his disappointment (although, I'm sure he was)

This is a very stark contrast to our QBs giving their deer-in-the-headlights look that seems to be the defining characteristic of ND QBs

This makes zero sense. Didn't ND's backup come in and lead them to a Bowl Win? Everyone's looking for any excuse to bash ND. Quit the drama.

And what was the look on Wimbush's eyes?

Who cares? He had a crappy game and was disappointed in himself. Good for Hurts, but I don't blame Wimbush,or anyone who loses their starting job mid game, for being upset.

Also, if you're going to ride Bama's tip, what about the kid who had a meltdown on the sideline and was still kept on the KO team?

It is ironic, both Bama and UGA had QBs returning after starting as True Frosh in 2016, and now both are likely transferring.

I wasn't riding Bama's tip...I was riding Jalen Hurts' tip

And I wasn't necessarily ragging on Wimbush (again). This is a characteristic of QBs under Kelly. We all saw that deer-in-the-headlights look in Crist, Golson, Henrix, and even Zaire and Kizer

To be fair, MOST QBs around the country would react similarly if they were pulled mid-game. I'm merely pointing out that all of Kelly's QBs but one (Tommy Rees; say what you want about him, but that guy has ice in his veins) get that look

If it's not unique to ND QBs, why bother slamming Kelly? Everyone wants to get these little b1tchy jabs in at BK, even when the topic has nothing to with him.

Kelly has ruined A LOT of qbs. Wimbush is just the latest qb he has turned into a head case.

I agree always nice to see a teammate willing to pull for another guy trying to pick him up....this is something I don’t see on ND sidelines regularly....I think it is a portion of competitive edge that Bama has over other schools....we say next man up and don’t believe it most of the time....

Confidence and Mental toughness seem to be two things Saban teams outmatch others with...it is the most difficult thing to teach in my opinion....teaching your team not to flinch at adversity is something that comes with experience and Bama has had that going on a decade now

Not trying to be gaga over Bama but their program from a purely football perspective is something to admire

By the way, that kid was Mehki (sp?) Brown. Wasn't ND recruiting him at one point?

Kelly's a big boy, he can handle it

Moreover I think that some criticism of Kelly is warranted in this case. That kid didn't come in last night and succeed because he is the second coming, he succeeded because he was prepared. ND QBs do not look prepared. The closest we came to that kind of performance last night was Kizer coming off the bench against Virginia. And that was Virginia.

ND does not play with the same intensity, they are not equally prepared. If that is because they have 20 hours a day of schoolwork then it is what it is, but call a spade a spade.

Didn't Book come off the bench to beat LSU? I'm not sold on Book by any means, but he performed well in the Bowl game. And school is infinitely more difficult for ND players, but Bama kids aren't spending the time difference studying film.

I'm all for putting blame on Kelly when it's deserved. However, Tagiviloa's performance literally has nothing to do with Kelly or ND.

He had a fair amount of actual game time prior to LSU. He played the entire NC game. But point taken, ND was way closer to prepared for LSU.

I may not be completely sold on Book, but I am bringing my wallet out my back pocket just the same

I'm not trying to pile on but based on your argument shouldn't the flip side be argued that Hurts was not prepared and his stats, other than the one long run, support that? Not sure if you saw Bama season but Tagovailoa,(sp?), was an early enrollee, consensus #1 Dual Threat QB and played a fair amount of minutes this season. Also well known within their program, he is a better passer than Hurts and when they couldn't establish the Run, it was in the game plan to play him if they needed to throw. So yes, he was prepared but as to your counter of ND not preparing their QB's, wouldn't the road win at NC, the 2nd half performance against a Very Good LSU defense, indicate Book was prepared? Other than the bad read for the INT, he orchestrated a beautiful 2 Minute Drive, actually in under 40 seconds, threw for 160 yards in a half to teammates who were playing due to the negative actions of the starters. Looked to me he was ready to play and the staff had a good gameplan in the first half, it just wasn't executed well by Wimbush who clearly has issues getting over the Mental aspects of playing QB for ND.

The two games were nearly identical in the way they played out and throw in 4-8 to 10-3 makes it a strong case to see the focus and intensity this team brought this season.

Yes.....but Book stayed at a Holiday Inn

His point wasn't regarding Tagialoa's performance. It was regarding the lack of preparedness and leadership of our own QBs

We all know Saban just copied BKs move from the Citrus bowl. Lol
