Catch of the year and likely play of the year given the impact....

 

My opinion we don't win that game without the Boykin play....

 

Somebody needed to step up and he did....credit to Book but that play was on Boykin

 

He gets us a 10 WIN SEASON

 

He gets us a bowl win

 

He saves us from another complete late season collapse

 

He secures a top 12 ranking at least

 

We now have something very positive to go into 18 with

Another guy who should have been playing more, always produces when his number is called.

Has been week on jump balls, but I agree, felt this guy should had seen more playing time by now.

He also caught a 29-yard pass on 3rd and 19 from midfield on the first touchdown drive that tied the game at 14-14. It was a well thrown ball by Book that he caught between two LSU defenders.

Agree, kid deserves the props. Good hands, great size...his problem is speed and playing behind St. Brown. He's only a Sophomore and expect his playing time to increase exponentially and turn into a very good possession, Red Zone threat, break the occasional similar to yesterday. Gotta love the fact Kelly told him during the week, and backed up by Book, he'd be the MVP. Wish Kelly would make the same prediction for a player every week! GO IRISH!

Book locked onto him with INT where the DB fell under the route.. Clearly had some routes game planned around him for this game.

I second that opinion, Hawaii. He was a gem and a game saver!

There seems to be a disturbing trend of back ups that are more talented than the starters. Is this a case of having so little time to practice and evaluate players or the lack of talent evaluation?

I’ve been b1tching all season about not having THAT dynamic receiver that can go up & win.

Jackson stepped out of bounds and attempted to tackle Boykin on the field afterward. Had he made that tackle, would it have been legal? If not, what would the penalty have been?

Great catch but he is pretty slow.

Yeah he's not a burner but a lot of taller receivers with longer legs aren't that fast, they're usually more long striders than sprinters. That reception and score was almost pure determination so I give him that.

 

He sort of reminds me of Maurice Stovall. He generally fits the role of short range possession receiver who can sometimes go downfield and beat a defender for a deep ball using his size.

 

He's too light for a TE, he would need to gain probably twenty pounds.

boykin did a great job just to hold on to that pass, cause he got crunched.

I am not 100% sure but I do not think that there is any restriction on the defense stepping out of bounds and then making a tackle. An interception is probably treated the same as a catch but I do not know that for a fact. Just guessing.

 

All I know is that I have never seen a flag (or even a hat) get thrown for defense stepping out of bounds.

Totally agree Hawaii. The guy deserves to be rewarded. If he's behind St. Brown, move him somewhere else and get him the ball.

I agree as well! He needed to step up since Claypool was out, and did he ever! It was such an amazing catch and run for a score!
