First, I would say that I am elated with today's citrus bowl victory. I am optimistic about Kelly's transformation into a more engaged and "aware" coach.

Kelly as a professional should never have been concerned about past relationships when choosing staff members. Credentials only! Make new friends, that help you win games! Also, his demeanor has improved but I think Kelly needs to continue working on that. Inspiration plays a big role in the performance of young college players and he needs to do a better job inspiring players to play at their best for him.

As far as recruiting goes, there are positions that ND simply can't miss on. Strong academic/football programs must hit on QB, OL, TE and LB in my opinion. Those positions seem to be available to the NDs and Stanfords so you must have capable players at those spots. Once you start consistently winning the rest of the positions will be more likely to fall in place. I have noticed the staffs ability to bring in DT's lately which has traditionally been a weak spot.

Wimbush scares me. All the talent in the world but there's something mentally and with his mechanics that cause him to be inaccurate. I think he's lacking confidence right now.

All said, definitely a more enjoyable Irish football season than last year's dismal outcome!

Well said! Can't wait to see the defense continue to develop in the future.

Interesting development could be if Jacob Eason decides to transfer from UGA. If I recall, ND was among his top choices. Given neither Wimbush or Book are really high quality D1 QBs, he could step in and start for a few yrs.

I'm sure it's pretty unlikely, but just a thought.

He's a statue. Need a mobile qb

I could get use to 10 win seasons..

He's less mobile than Kizer?

He's less mobile than Kizer?

Yes and he loathes contact. Not exactly the style of QB Kelly likes.

Definitely. Kizer can run...

Yeah, some guys want nothing but a title but I'll take a team that can at least compete at that level on a yearly basis. The see-saw from year to year, the highs then lows is what drives me crazy.

I agree.

The offense scares me next year. I'm not a chip long fan. Still looks like bk's offense but with some inside running.

Still very few passes to the slot rec, they never dump it off to a rb that sneak out, and nothing across the middle.
