December 27, 20177 yr Thanks for the link buddy! Happy to make a contribution. I get a lot out of this board.
December 27, 20177 yr Notre Dame gets a good coach, other team covets coach, ND pays or looks to pay a massive extension. This is a condition for success that drives me crazy but its standard at ND. I hope the negotiation for Elko's extension is going well, because he now has leverage and is entering year 2 of his three year agreement. I hope by the beginning of next season he has his new 3 year extension worth whatever the market dictates.
December 27, 20177 yr I think the day Elko leaves (and could be soon), will be for a HC job. A&M probably pays more, and that is obviously attractive, but Elko is paid very well at ND and has way more exposure. Going to A&M is a lateral move at best.

It would be nice to have to replace 3-4 coaches a year due to other programs hiring them away.

Didn't denbrock take a job as an OC last year as well? Feel how you want about BK but his assistant coaches have always been in high demand.

I would say anywhere near 1 million is probably what it's going to take to keep him at bay from other top programs and all of the other non power 5 HC offers. That is of course if his defenses progress like they did last year.

They need to make him Assistant Head Coach with a raise and let him know he is the head coach in waiting when Kelly is no longer there.
December 28, 20177 yr They need to make him Assistant Head Coach with a raise and let him know he is the head coach in waiting when Kelly is no longer there. I like him and all but the head coach in waiting is restricted in recruiting. Also from not being a head coach to the head coach at ND would be a big jump. Need to pay him for sure. Elston is also a good coach. I hope we can keep the defensive staff and just get something rolling for 3 years.
December 28, 20177 yr They need to make him Assistant Head Coach with a raise and let him know he is the head coach in waiting when Kelly is no longer there. This reminds me of the fire Kelly and hire Diaco thread which started immediately following the loss to Bama. No offense but can we give the guy a few years and see how the Defense develops and MAINTAINS before we begin campaigning for Asst. HC or in-waiting?

December 29, 20177 yr Head Coach in waiting??? Where else does that happen? Happened with Muschamp under Mack Brown at Texas in '08. Only lasted for 2 years until he left for Florida
December 29, 20177 yr Happened with Muschamp under Mack Brown at Texas in '08. Only lasted for 2 years until he left for Florida Also happened with Jimbo at FSU but it is pretty rare.
