December 21, 20177 yr This team checked out a long time ago. We don't get enough guys that love football. That lenzy kid is a good example. Half of his heart is in track, he'll never reach his full potential.
December 21, 20177 yr ND isn't exactly limited when it comes to TE. Smythe has been a bigger factor this year, no reason to think the Bowl game is any difft. Next year, you've got both Kmet and Wright, who were 2 of the top TEs in their class. It is frustrating to see Mack pull a Redfield, but no big loss.
December 21, 20177 yr Yep, he gone. I think Mack would have progressed this offseason, and been better next year. He started to get better later in the season. I think most of this season he was shaking off the rust of not playing an entire year. Also , is it me or did he look much larger then when he was a frosh? And slower. Anyway, we will be fine at TE, and we brought in a TE who is similar to him anyways. Have fun and 2nd chance U.
December 22, 20177 yr Meh. There are options beyond him and this will translate into playing time for them instead of riding the pine, blocking and making a cameo appearance on offense now and then.

You quote and question my comment of spending $$ on the immediate bowl game & then mention “long-term”... you do realize that a couple of these players are those who are in position to catch balls, right? If even a hint of receiving ability is removed from an already weak threat, the LSU will only play one-dimensional & focus on the run game.. Let me put this into sum kinda perspective: “Add recent season-ending shoulder injuries to sophomore wide receiver Chase Claypool and freshman tight end Brock Wright, and suddenly five of Wimbush’s offensive options are gone, including three of ND’s four leading receivers. He can't catch a cold and clearly doesn't have his **** together off the field either. He is not a loss short, medium or long term. I'm sure LSU are cheering they won't have to defend against Mack and his lone TD over 3 years at ND. I hope he is a nice guy as his career won't be playing football. 32 catches for 356 years over two full seasons of play. What a killer. Play Cole Kmet extensively and see what he has. It's a pity Brock Wright is out as we have no idea what he can do in the passing game. It can't be worse than Mack though, I'm pretty certain of that.
