Both were already named Walter Camp First Team All Americans.

McGlinchey a first team AA? That is a joke.

Our OL with two supposed All Americans (Nelson is a beast though) got rag dolled by Miami and ran out of gas down the stretch. McGlinchey is all hype, not enough substance.

I assume the people who pick these things watch most every tackle play at some point, most likely multiple times. I'm also assuming they know what makes a good offensive tackle. No, McGlinchey wasn't perfect, but I think you are letting the few bad plays overshadow all of the good ones.

I just looked at 5 mock drafts and all 5 have him going in the top 15. I know those aren't scientific, but he is pretty highly thought of by those in the business it seems.

Height: 6-7. Weight: 310.

Projected 40 Time: 5.30.

Projected Round (2018): 1.

12/9/17: McGlinchey has improved as a senior and is likely the top offensive tackle prospect for the 2018 NFL Draft. He has good athleticism on the edge with the feet to handle speed and good strength to sustain blocks. Unlike many finesse left tackles, McGlinchey is a quality run blocker who can get movement at the point of attack. He has blocked well this season and has been a key cog in Notre Dame's potent rushing attack.

In his matchup against Boston College defensive end Harold Landry, McGlinchey won the few plays they had against each other. He also helped keep Wake Forest defensive end Duke Ejiofor to one tackle in their contest.

McGlinchey had a rough game against Miami as sophomore defensive end Joe Jackson gave him some issues. He gave up a few pressures against Georgia, too, and showed a lack of awareness on a couple of plays, but overall, McGlinchey played well against the Bulldogs until the end of the fourth quarter, when he was beaten by a speed rush for a sack-fumble with 90 seconds remaining to clinch a one-point win for Georgia. Prior to that play, McGlinchey did very well in one-on-one pass protection on the blind side. He still had one false start, but looks more disciplined in that regard this year

While I agree the line was disappointing for most of the year, how many LTs have you seen this year get smoked by speed rushers? Hell Iowa was getting pressure with a 4 man rush against Ohio st. There just aren't that many really good lineman in college football, especially out at the tackle spot.

The left tackle for Oklahoma is pretty good, no way Mcglinchey is better than that guy.

Mr. All-Hype also just got named a First Team All American by the FWAA.

He is officially a Consensus All American, and will be a Unanimous All American most likely (if chosen by AFCA and Sporting News).

As mentioned above, he is a unanimous first round pick by NFL draft scouts.

I agree, McGlinchey hasn't been the same player since moving over from RT.

Good for him. I wouldn't want my team drafting him as a franchise LT to go against guys like Von Miller, Joey Bosa etc... they would eat him alive for breakfast.

This is based on my own personal eye test. Lets see where he is come April when they have been fully evaluated.

I blame the scheme, not the linemen. We simply didn't adjust our play calling when it was apparent that our low developing read option runs got smothered.

We didn't call runs that had the back hit the hole quicker. We did nothing with misdirection to ensure that backside defensive ends didn't over pursue. Sure McGlinchey got beat a few times, but it was our running scheme that was the bigger problem.

That's a very valid point.
