JS does it again. Notre Dame will struggle again next November, not because of the competition, but because of the insane amount of traveling the last half of the season. San Diego the last week of October, pit stop in the midwest, then New York and Los Angeles back-to-back weeks. Insane. This is the schedule (Navy is after a bye week):

10/27: Navy (San Diego)

11/3: Northwestern (Chicago)

11/10: Florida State (Notre Dame)

11/17: Syracuse (New York)

11/24: USC (Los Angeles)

Yes, New York and Los Angeles in one week is just a bad call. Two trips to the west coast...

Well if it is either play at Yankee stadium or play in cuse, this is an easier travel i would assume. remember, this is part of the acc deal

It was originally supposed to be in South Bend. If it was supposed to be at the Carrier Dome, I would agree - definitely move it to New York.

But I hate losing a home game, especially with all of the travel ND will have to do in November (two trips to California and now to New York).

You are right... that is nuts. I was assuming in the carrier dome which would be no big deal to me. This doesnt make sense.

Geez Wiz built in excuses for next year! How could the players win more than 7 games? they were jet lagged for weeks!!!1!!!

This is awful. Stupid. Unfair. DONT know what JS is doing here. The schedule and the travel added to our tough schooling is nuts. No other team can pull this off. It's just too much. I know everyone hates Kelly but he can't be happy about this.

You don't think ND is at a disadvantage having ONE home game over the last five weeks or the season, while making cross-country trips to San Diego, New York, and Los Angeles?

Not an excuse to lose. But it's absolutely a crazy disadvantage.

This is not the scheduling model to compete for Championships. I wonder how Brian Kelly feels about this.

This was an incredibly dumb move. I hate the Shamrock series. It has not been back any glory to the program. Give up a home game to travel to NYC...

It will still be used as an excuse by the fans. I expect them to be able to go 4-1 on that stretch. The only bad part to me is the east to west coast travel in a week.

Yeah like playing FSU and SC wasnt hard enough. We're so much better than everyone else we could just handle anything. Tougher academics. Tougher travel. Tougher schedule. Not an excuse this just isn't fair. We're going to be shot

Gotta give props to ND for this. We might not like it as fans, because of all the travel the players have to go through and it simply makes their schedule more difficult...but at the same time they can't be accused of playing too many home games or playing cupcakes.

2 years ago they did the same **** and I sure don't remember it being a big problem then. 1 home game in the last 5 games! Sure they didn't play someone like FSU but they still went 4-1. If the team is any good it isn't going to be that big of a deal, If it is a problem the year wasn't that good to begin with.

Faced with a low demand game in what is usually Indiana ****** weather conditions, the powers that be and wealthiest alumni chose a nice junket to New York City where they will wine and dine and network in the finest restaurants and VIP Suites. This is about money folks.

Exactly. Not about what's best for the program or the players.

Great point. We didn't have to play FSU. That's the point. This schedule top to bottom is too difficult. Add the travel and its unfair

It's just plain stupid to schedule like this, it's completely unfair to the players. It makes no sense, especially since they already bust their asses to begin with. It's just too much to ask of kids in their late teens/early twenties. BK and savvy Jack can both go take a long walk off a short pier.

One of things that made me a fan almost twenty years ago was seeing how disappointed the kids were after every loss because they came to ND to win titles, not come up short time and again.

IMO scheduling two national powers like fsu and usc so close together late in the season is just asking to get your coach fired.

Next season will be tough enough with the Young oline, but this is adding serious insult to injury

And if travel wasn’t an issue the nfl teams wouldn’t complain above it.... but they do ....and they aren’t full time students required to write exams around this time.

But great for Jay Flaherty, Phillip Purcell, Mark Yusko and all of those who want to rub elbows with the real power behind the new Notre Dame. Football schmootball.

So the travel isn't the problem the difficulty is?
