hahahahahah lol ya

Kept USC out of the playoffs.

Heh. USC tears sure didn't hurt this year, that game pretty much made my football year. This season also beat the Hades out of 4-8. I might have to go dig up the highlights of that game just for kicks.

This was my thought while watching the game. ND smoked SC and that is badass. PAC 13 champ !! If only they maned up and beat Stanford

We waxed those guys by 5 TDs. Sigh.

I wish our TEs could catch the ball like those Stanford guys. It's hard to catch a ball in the dirt or 8 yards over your head ala Wimbush but those guys are good.

I think managing the the freshness of a team is a real skill. This team looked comparatively tired from the second half of Wake to Stanford. Perhaps it is a measure of our lack of depth, but that has to be taken into account when keeping a team fresh. Yes, we turned the ball over, but we looked tired as well compared to earlier in the year. Perhaps this can be overcome by psychology-keeping teams hungry and not complacent- as well.

I think this was the key to the collapse at the end of the season. Once the hype built, we just didn't have that edge any more. The 33 trucking campaign ruined Adams' season and with it the teams' - as did all the playoff talk.

Kelly needs to find a way for them to be able to manage the hype if we are to be successful. I think this year it go to their heads.

TOP (est minutes)

ND 26 - Mia 34 - ND, 4 TO’s

ND 17 - Navy 43 - ND & Nav 1 TO, each

ND 28.5 Stanny 31.5 - ND, 3 TO’s

Having perhaps the best offensive line and best running game going into November, those stats tell me the strategy was poor.

Appears so, huh

Thats a bit if time for a decent def to be pinned with. Mismanagement of the game left the def in a horrible position. I have a hard time blaming our def for the woes of 2017. This comes down to head coach, sprinkled with a lot of BW

I'm sure it was the 33 trucking and not that Josh Adams was clearly banged up.

I think we had enough depth at RB to survive a banged up Adams. Our strategy of slow developing runs and lack of misdirection to slow pursuit doomed our running game.

Doesn't matter how much depth you have if your stubborn coach just continues to throw the clearly banged up guy out there.

Exactly! The depth showed really good “stuff” all the way down to McIntosh. CBK just....smfh, just does his thing

2 Old sayings occurred to me when I read this - Being tired leads to turnovers, and fatigue makes cowards (too harsh a word for this team) of us all... As has been said by others a similar or proportionate S&C improvement between now and next year may make a big difference.

Dead on - no reading press clippings /reduce the diva factor.

When the Miami DC & staff knew (and were laughing their asses off in the coaches box) what was going to be run before the snap, not only poor, but transparent. Do you think Kelly took a more active role in the play calling later in the season, or did the 1st 6 or so games give Long's blueprint. I'd lean toward the former.

I don't disagree, I don't think Adams should get hate for being banged up and not playing like he did games 1-7. Stanford, Miami, (and Georgia) we left guys unblocked on the weak side on slower developing read plays and the backside guys were making tackles behind the LOS. I don't know **** about football and it was apparent to me that we should've run more quick hitting plays behind the left side of the line rather than slower read style plays. Especially since it seemed like Winbush was also banged up and not running like he was earlier in the year.

I hear this “adams banged up” terminology a lot. Is this fact or speculation?

This thing about Josh Adams being banged up. Sure, he was our home-run hitter but I actually think Dexter Williams AND Tony Pride Jr hits the hole faster...Basically, I'm trying to say that we could have still done well even without Josh Adams

Once the 33 Trucking campaign went live, I immediately thought "ehhh sh*t"

I was basically thinking, when will Kelly learn? He doesn't (i.e. the team doesn't) respond well when there are distractions like this. Like what Saban said, "the media is poison.

The media starts to bring up Heisman aspirations, and the team grows complacent and start believing in their own news clippings

Adams looked banged up from week 1. I think he just finally packed it in mentally after the campaign came out. Dude is trying to get paid in the NFL.

Depth means you actually use the other guys. Other than a couple of games in blow outs, we didn't see the rotation at RB mid season we should have seen to protect our stud. Did BK make the decision to the ride the Publicity coming off the 4-8 season. Wanted to keep the program in the hype train? We all wonder why? There is never a clear reason with BK.
