All of these job openings, some of them big ones, and FSU is about to open up. None of them have any interest in Brian Kelly. Even Tennessee is now looking at Mike Gundy.

Does the rest of the CFB world smell a skunk in Kelly but Swarbrick is nose blind to it? Not one sniff from another school. I think we are stuck with a loser.

Why would Brian Kelly leave ND for Tennessee? Or Arkansas? Or Texas A&M? Or UCLA? Are those better jobs than ND?

I haven't heard Urban Meyer linked to many jobs either. Or Chris Peterson. Or Gary Patterson. Or about 110 of the 126 FBS coaches for that matter.

Outside of our circle of rabid fans who soak in every play and nuance of every game, many on the outside still regard the guy in pretty high esteem. (Of course, there's also the occasional Finebaum-type who will rail on him) but for the most part, many in the CFB world think the guy has done a bang-up job.

And if you're a casual observer of our program, I can see how you could come to that conclusion, if you're only going on records, scores and highlights. The consensus of the CFB world seems to be, if he can do that at ND, imagine what he could do here with the obvious fewer obstacles.

Why we're not hearing his name this year? Not sure, because I think many of those w/openings would def take him if they thought they had a chance, but to Cory's point, why would he leave for one of those anyway? That's more likely the thought...why even bother contacting a guy we don't think will leave?

Tennessee is a very attractive job: You can recruit anyone you want, you're in the weaker of the SEC conferences & They've sucked so will gladly tolerate 9 win seasons, mild climate, large following and interest from the Athletic Department to succeed. More recent national title than ND..

Oh yeah and the best "fight song" in college football!

Not so sure about them tolerating 9-win seasons. Maybe year 1 they'll be okay w/that, but past that, they'll want to be competing for SEC titles, and a NC before long.

It’s so attractive they’re on their 5th try at hiring someone with no end in sight.

I assume it’s because Brian Kelly is a loser.

Hasn't Kelly been trying to get out of South Bend for a couple of years now? Wasn't he actively looking at the end of last season and Swarbrick even gave him permission? The AD'S know that that if they wanted him, they could probably get him.

Why would Jimbo leave for aTm?

Why would Gundy leave for Tennessee?

It happens, people want a fresh start and or make more money.

pretty sure Boone Pickens could get Saban paid $20 million per year on a 5 year deal at Ok State if Gundy leaves.

100% sure Saban doesn't even take Pickens call.

Yeah. Setting up NFL interviews during prep for the NC game says a coach really is vested in the program. Yet we still extend his contract and keep him around...

For one thing, he's not that good of a HC. For another, nobody wants to pay an overpaid HC's four year buyout for a coach who produces more excuses than results.

Coaches don't make lateral moves to start over unless they get fired.

The only recent example was Will Muschamp to South Carolina.

He gets fired from Florida, THEN you feel blessed for a second chance, I think after a year or at maybe Auburn as defensive coordinator.

Kelly would have to be given full control of the Chicago Bears or Redskins(Spurrier example) to leave ND

I think we have a better chance of finding out Kelly and Saban are long lost twins who decide to "Parent Trap" us next year and bring us a championship.

One downside is that I believe that Tennessee plays Alabama each year in a permanent crossover game.

Look at the success of his coaching tree, it's awful. No one is looking to hire an 8-4 coach, especially some of the losses he's compiled with a top ten roster according to recruiting services.

He's an above average coach, he's not likeable and his cockiness/ego is not warranted.

Teams are clamoring for a coach that openly says he hates fund raising

Knoxville sucks... unless you like being enveloped in high tension wires...

I think it’s the other way around. First off, Tennessee is probably not wasting their time going after Kelly because he wouldn’t leave ND for them. Second, after the Schiano fiasco and now Doeran stuff, why would any coach with a good job wanna go there? The fan base is clearly running things over there...

Any chance FSU shows interest in BK if Jimbo leaves for A&M? I know there is no love here for BK but he has proven more than many of the options left out there for a big program. Without the ND restrictions he might surprise people with a fresh start.
