Dan Mullen and his ties to ND would have been a logical and potentially great hire for us. Just like Urban Meyer would have been.

Can you imagine if Mullen lights it up at Florida? Being the brides maid to another ND guy to the same school because you are scared to make a change would be about too much to stomach at this point.

Just because you can light it up at Florida, doesn't mean equal success here. No chance in hell we fire Kelly this year anyway..

IMO we are going to regret missing out on Mullen and sticking with BK. There will be a real buzz and jolt given to the Florida program, meanwhile back at South Bend, no enthusiasm or excitement as we all know that this is really going nowhere under the current regime.

I think the stars are going to align for Urban. He's already won a NC and had an undefeated season when they were on probation. When he gets stale at OSU Brian Kelly will be gone from here for whatever reason and we can have our savior at last..

Settle down.his 9 years at miss st has garnered him 1 more win then bk. His w-l looks alot like kellys yet you are dropping your shorts and clinching the park bench for him.

SMH. Dan Mullen to ND? Just out of curiosity, I'll play along...why and what are his ties to ND?

Mullen is also great with QB's, that goes a long way towards winning.

You kidding me ? You know how difficult it is to recruit at Miss Sr, not to mention compete against the SEC. He also was a coach on Urban's staff at Florida when they ruled the college football world. This guy is miles ahead of Brian Kelly.

I'll give you this.. I was thinking the same thing

Competition is tougher in the SEC west, but he can recruit any kid he wants at a state school in Mississippi.. I mean come on. The state of Mississippi regularly ranks in the bottom 5 states for public edumacation.

If it's too much for your to stomach, you should leave this board and take all your negativity somewhere else.

Again, Kelly is not going anywhere and the administration is not scared to make a change.

His conference record in the SEC is 33-39 meaning he his record is padded his with their non-conference games anainst a bunch of rummies. This year he feasted on Charleston Southern.

Not as hard as it is to recruit at nd.

The SEC is not a conference filled with alabamas. Not to mention those fcs punching bags.

He was on meyers florida staff when that program was out of control? Great.

The gripes against kelly work for him as well. I don't mind replacing bk but i won't BS myself and just say anyone is better.

Who has Mullen ever beat? I don't understand the hype with him, he had one year with Prescott and then they fell off the map.

If he has more wins at miss state over the last 8 years then bk does at nd that speaks volumes to how much better he is. Yes it's hard to recruit to nd, its harder to recruit at miss state. Yes they play cupcakes every year, and that imo is more then evened out playing an sec schedule yearly. Agree to disagree but Mullen would be been a nice hire, bk is stale and a change is needed. Mullen can average 8 wins per year which is all Kelly does and has a good chance to be better then that

At Miss State he competed yearly against the likes of Alabama, LSU, Florida and Auburn in the toughest division and conference in the country. That is far tougher then what ND plays, outside of USC no one on our schedule compares to that. I also like the fact that he was a QB coach and offensive coordinator at Florida, was Kelly ever even an offensive coordinator ?

Recruiting wise ND has it's challenges but we have a lot of history and as they say ND recruits itself. Even Ty Willingham who barely lifted a finger recruiting was able to bring in top talent. Miss State will never ever be able to compete with ND due to it's history, the powerhouse schools who they have to compete with for whatever home grown talent they produce. What Mullen was able to accomplish there was very impressive, he built a nothing program into one that could go toe to toe with the SEC heavyweights.

Your math is off, he hasn't won more. In 9 years he has one more win then bk at nd.

People want us to have a coach that have us competing with alabama. This guy has already proven he can't.

Dan Mullen did far more with his hand than Kelly has.

He has basically been coaching the Indiana of the SEC and you want him going toe to toe with Alabama? Bill Belichick would get steamrolled in that scenario. If you want to downplay the guy, fine, but we aren't getting Saban or Meyer.

He also 'gets' ND.

Yes sorry I thought that's what you had said I misunderstood. And no he can't compete with bama with miss state talent level, you are correct. You're probably right though he would be worse then 8 win Brian so keep your 8 win Brian until he decides to call it quits
