9 wins is where I'd thought(hoped) we'd be at this year. I'm probably not the only one.

36.7(points for) offense up from 30.9

20.4 (points against) Defense improved from 27.8

These are dream numbers for me coming into the season.

That's a 14 point turn around, and my absolute best case scenario.

16.3 point differential. 2012 can't even boast that. Biggest difference probably strength of schedule to be honest.

+8 Same turnover Margin as 2012.

I was thrilled anything under 23 on defense(I know 2012 was better, but our offense didn't even hit 30 that year) and anything north of 34 on offense is basically a Kelly Era record.

Dusty Baker went the World Series with the Giants and took a struggling Cubs franchise to back to back playoff appearances. But just like those franchises realized, so did the Washington Nationals about Dusty Baker, good coach that does just enough but can’t win it all. I feel that way about BK. When is enough enough?

Sorry Faith, didn’t mean to crap on your post. I get what you are saying. Also, I agree at looking at the whole picture. We have improved dramatically from last season. I just don’t see it going any further than this however. Next season better be an easy 10 win season.

I picked 10-2 preseason, so I need this Stanford win..

I don't expect expectations to change until Swarbrick retires.

But also am not gonna fault Kelly when he had one of his top seasons statistically speaking.

All Kelly can give us his is best. Paradox is his best is better than a lot of coaches and worse than just a few, at some point we will try to trade his best for better, but like any gamble, you can easily wind up worse than you are now.

ND got gambling happy, landed on Weis and the other guys between Holtz and Kelly.

Now they've stopped gambling for awhile.

Who knows what the next roll will result in.

I'd like to see it result in Mike Zimmer, the Vikings head coach. Crazy I know.

I believe I predicted 10 wins as a best case scenario before the season, 8 worst case so we're right in there. It's hard to complain about a top ten ranking after 2016.

Beat Stanford, win a bowl game and it will be one heckuva upgrade over 4-8. Even losing to Stanford and winning whatever bowl game we end up in would have the arrow pointing up although I would obviously prefer beating ND west in their own stadium.

I'd bet that this season exceeded what the complainers predicted yet they are still not happy.

The reality is we have like 4 or 5 echo fanboys on this board that worship echos anti establishment/anti mainstreet attitude. To them he'll always be the guy with the pack of cigarettes rolled in his sleeve.

They are trying to parrot him with the fire bk rhetoric but look silly because we are, well, 9-2.

If they were smarter they'd notice how echo is keeping a lower profile during these times of success. He'll wait till we get blown out in our bowl game till he fully exits the woodwork.

Had to appreciate BK in his presser after the Miami game when he answered a question about focusing on the next game and tuning out the noise by saying the week before he was up for Coach of Year and after the game, it was FireBK.com...didn't know he was a fan of DD until that quote! Wonder what his screen name is and maybe the Mods can help us out with a little intel??!! :)

I became a complainer after last season.. I was a late addition to that bandwagon. Not Echo's bandwagon, but just the move on from BK sentiment as I thought this job had chewed him up and spit him out.

I figured 9 wins was the MOST I could hope for this season.....now

I hope I was wrong!

Yep I will be glad to edit this thread title next week and make it say "Exceeded" my expectations.

Cheers!

I'm am happy. I predicted 8 wins and felt 9 would be a great success. I am happy.

Echo fanboys? I have the same thoughts on Kelly as that poster does but that poster doesn't like me and I'm not wild about that poster as well. I was weirded out by the posts the poster made about 'McGlincheys sweet succulent butt cheeks'. That was just too much man.

Jilted lover? Lol.... this is not a good look.

Please. You were calling him the best poster on this board, and then he yelled at you and your feelings got hurt. You'll get over it. Warm milk helps.

Overall, this season has exceeded my expectations. I have enjoyed the year and am amazed that they only have one regular season game left. The college football season totally flies by!

Hurt feelings has nothing to do with it. I STILL think he's one of the best posters on here because of his opinions on Kelly and the program. It doesnt make me or anyobe else his fanboys. But yeah, he went ballistic about *** cheeks on me because I dared to criticize McGlinchey multiple times in a humorous way. So i can't say I'm wild about him. Like and quality of poster are two different things.

I don't drink warm milk. I sip bourbon straight. Especially Old Grand Dad Bottled in Bond or 114 proof.

I will add...although this season has exceeded my expections, that's only b/c BK squashed them...I totally think the program would benefit from a change at this point.

I like you all if that helps.

Did you have a win total in mind preseason Jack?

I think I predicted 7 wins. So they definitely surpassed my expectations.

I’m happy too. I think I predicted 9-3 with a bowl win. Hopefully they’ll beat Stanford and head to a New Years bowl and finally win one!
