Navy game happened. It is over. It is a win.

We have a chance to finish 9-2, take Bryce Love out of Heisman contention and end or season with some really solid wins. And we can do this all during the game of the week on NATIONAL TELEVISION!

Stanford probably matches up more favorably with our defense (fingers crossed) but we will have to destroy Bryce Love!

On offense we need to run the ball effectively and I think we need a better mix of designed Wimbush runs, Stepherson jet sweeps and anything else that make the linebackers not focus soley on our slow developing pulling run plays.

11-2 is our goal now with a nice bowl win. Go Irish!

ND is better on both sides of the ball....should win by 17+

We definitely are better on both sides of the ball but there's no way we're winning by more than one score.

Yeah, heard that before...

Exactly. We don’t play well out there under BK. I think this will come down to the f8nal possession either way.

We will lose and finish 9-3. The bowl game will of course be about the matchup.

Kelly is 0-3 vs Shaw at Stanford. He is 2-6 vs him all time.

How many of those was he favored in?

He's also 2-4 vs Shaw, not 2-6. Without looking it up, I'd guess he'd probably won the two times he's been favored and lost the 4 times he hasn't been.

Too much turkey, traveling to the West coast, Kelly's track record all add up to a Stanford victory.

I really DO NOT UNDERSTAND the optimism at this point,,,,

Frankly we are NOT PLAYING better then many teams "on both sides of the ball"

For the last two weeks we have been playing like the number 55 team NOT the # 9 team

Stanford has been playing very solid ball we have NOT

Stanford has been very difficult for us to beat at palo alto

I am FAR from optimistic going into this game

I didn't post anything last week about the navy game,,,,but when so many posts were telling me we were going to demolish them, going to pummel them, going to take out our frustrtations on them...

I wanted to say watch out , that Miami game may have really undermined our confidence and focus as well as simply taking it out of us physically.

Not wanting to be a Cassandra I held my tongue , or hands in this case--

We played average against WAKE---We played HORRIBLY against Miami-- We played subpar against Navy

ITS NOT REALISTIC to see this team as having anywhere near the positive momentum we had a month ago

If I was WAGERING I would not bet on us....and if history tells us much it tells us we are MORE LIKELY to LOSE the next two then win them.....

That said....

THIS GAME IS CRITICAL for Kelly and the team which has already pronounced this year as a "premature turnaround"

Sure we turned around from an 8 loss team---but this was NEVER a 2 star roster and never should have lost those 8 games ....

Kelly HAS TO FIND a way to win Saturday.

We CANNOT let Stanford turn another strong season into something much less with an end of year beating

We cannot go from the PLAYOFFS to losing 3 of our last four and playing sketchy for our last FIVE GAMES!!!

We need this game and the next one---

We need a January bowl and a win

We need that 11 win season and top 5 finish to REALLY call this season a major turnaround....

If we go 9-4 IMHO we are simply ACHIEVING what we should have last year , going at the minimum 8-4 with a bowl win

To reach that mark is not turning anything around but merely playing to our NORMAL this season rather then the swan song of last season....

Good weather--- some distance between us and the Miami pasting and the motivation of finishing strong FOR A CHANGE

I hope we show up like the team that played USC and not the team we have seen for the last three weeks----the first team will win the second team will not

I am HOPEFUL but far from optimistic---the TREND is down for us---we need to TURN THAT AROUND in order to really call this season a "TURNAROUND SEASON"

This is definetly a winnable game, watched some of the Stanford/Cal game last night and consider me unimpressed with the Trees. No excuse for Kelly not to get a win this time around.

I was unimpressed with us against Navy and Miami.. We'll get a Stanford team ready to go. Shaw hates us.

The last sentence you wrote is important. BK doesn’t ever seem to realize these games or coaches as he needs to. Miami hates us. Navy comes for us. Alabama and Ohio St want to humiliate us. Michigan calls us a rivalry but BK won’t. That’s why they smack us around when we play them. The two teams teams BK knows that has these feelings are mutual are USC and Michigan St.-and he does ok against them. Someone needs to tell him when this going to happen. Stanford is a HUGE game for us. For so many reasons I won’t name. But Stanford will come to play. BK better be told...

We need a quarterback who, no matter the weather or the environment, comes out of the tunnel ready to play.

We need a quarterback who does not airmail his first 5 passes.

We need a quarterback who is confident from the moment he steps foot on the field.

We need receivers who hold on to a ball placed in their hands.

Do those things and I think ND could be a terrific team.

Right now they are just middle of the road. They'll beat marginal and average teams, get throttled by elite teams, and play close against teams that are good.

Deer in the headlights is not a good look for a Notre Dame quarterback.

No offense, but I think you need to check yourself. You may be over-reacting a bit here...Nothing is ever as bad as it seems, nor is it as good as it seems. We got throttled by Miami for the same reason we got throttled by Alabama. The kids weren't ready to play and that is on the COACHES. It had little to do with our talent level. If you have the stomach for it, go back and watch how many tackles we missed in the hole where our D Line fit the run the way they wanted to and our backers and safety (Zeke) just wiffed in the '12 NC game. I'm not saying we would have won had we played better, but the game should have not been that big of a margin if they played to their ability.

This team is not good enough to be told how great they are for a sustained period of time and then will execute on game day.

I always tell myself "stay hungry stay fed" in the business world, and that's a motto that our team needs to adopt. Every week is a new, dynamic challenge and our previous success or struggles should have nothing to do our mindset and preparation. We thought we were going to roll Miami, coaches and players alike. For a second, I thought we were good enough to play with overconfidence, but it's clear we are not, and aside from Bama, I don't think anyone is good enough to this year. Miami damn near let Virginia beat them the following week.

I was unimpressed with us against Navy and Miami.. We'll get a Stanford team ready to go. Shaw hates us.

And... I would add... Shaw is a better coach. No doubt about it.

ND is back...

Time for ND to put a stamp on this season...

The spread starts out as ND by 1.5.
