November 19, 20177 yr I figured that and I don't mind Herbstreit doing the game. I hate waiting all day for night games though.
November 19, 20177 yr Stanford’s rank will be interesting. Unreal schedule for the Fighting Irish, in hindsight. Coming out 9-2 thus far is looking good. Hard to ignore the fashion behind the scores, but 9-2 after a 4-8? Hopefully, something’s brewing good

There's a decent chance that ND finishes with double digit wins and after endless cursing last season where we just kept on coming up short, I'll take this season. I still don't think this team is "there" but at least the arrow seems to be pointing up.

Last year, sadly, i ditched the Fighting Irish last season after spending far too much money traveling to games & watching em lose all too often. But, from what i recall, weren’t most of the losses by a single score? to flip that into a winning percentage is pretty good

But, from what i recall, weren’t most of the losses by a single score? to flip that into a winning percentage is pretty good Yeah, that's what made last season so frustrating. Last year's team could have been 9-3, maybe even 10-2 if the cards fell into place. They didn't though and that's what matters in the end. You can throw every variable under the sun into the equation but the only thing that matters in the end is the result and final record. That remains to be seen this year. For awhile, I thought this year's team had caught lightning in a bottle and had a shot at a title but that was fool's gold. To me, anything short of a title is a lost season but a double digit win season and a respectable bowl win would be a decent consolation prize after the travesty of 2016.

November 20, 20177 yr Hate 8:00 EST kick offs and having to wait all day but it's a great lineup for college fans with scUM vs Suckeyes at Noon, Iron Bowl at 3:30 and our Lads to finish the day. Throw in my Badgers along the way so time to get a case of beer, bucket of chicken, chips and dip, all in the comfy confines of my Man Cave for this glorious final weekend of football. GO IRISH!

November 20, 20177 yr I hate you. Sincerely, Father of 5 and 2 year old Lol my son's are 20 months and 5 months old, at least you're closer to the light but I feel your pain
November 20, 20177 yr Join a conference and win titles. I've never been an advocate of joining a conference but I'm having second thoughts more recently. I know the idea is basically blasphemy but maybe an extra week of exposure in a conference title game wouldn't hurt at the end of the year. The guys do a lot of traveling during the course of a season and that has to wear on them on top of practice, classes, tests, the actual games and everything. I'm sure it wears on them after awhile on top of traveling from one coast then back to SB then to the other coast and back.
November 20, 20177 yr They love having this game at night. I swear it has been 8:00 pm EST the last three times they’ve played in Palo Alto.
November 20, 20177 yr They love having this game at night. I swear it has been 8:00 pm EST the last three times they’ve played in Palo Alto. It makes perfect sense though really for both coasts. I would like a 5 p.m. start if the game was on FOX, but with it being an ABC/ESPN game a noon and 3:30 start wouldn't be ideal. I am traveling to Florida that afternoon and never worried about missing the game because I knew it would be a night game.
November 20, 20177 yr I hate you. Sincerely, Father of 5 and 2 year old Hey, I put my time in with my now older kids! Reaping the rewards of my investment so to speak...
November 20, 20177 yr Lol my son's are 20 months and 5 months old, at least you're closer to the light but I feel your pain Light? Where!!?
November 21, 20177 yr Is anyone else worried about this game? We've been trending downward since the Wake game... We couldn't dominate the LOS like we wanted to even though the numbers were insane..
November 21, 20177 yr They love having this game at night. I swear it has been 8:00 pm EST the last three times they’ve played in Palo Alto. The Grimes game in 2007 is the last afternoon game I remember...
November 21, 20177 yr The Grimes game in 2007 is the last afternoon game I remember... That’s true he “caught” that ball right in front of us!!
November 21, 20177 yr Stanford’s rank will be interesting. Unreal schedule for the Fighting Irish, in hindsight. Coming out 9-2 thus far is looking good. Hard to ignore the fashion behind the scores, but 9-2 after a 4-8? Hopefully, something’s brewing good I give you Exhibit A of why this is not something that makes me optimistic: Bob Davie 7-6 9-3 5-7 9-3 5-6 Twice we thought "well, recruiting is up...record bounced back...tough bowl loss...but things are pointing in the right direction, FINALLY..." Only to have Lucy pull the football on us again... We sit on the precipice once more...11-2 still possible, with that would be a likely top 5 EOY rank .... 9-4 also still possible with a total flame out ending to a once promising season. Kelly himself is looking more "Davie" than "Holtz" in November and his record also follows the up and down motion of a program seeking footing even after 8 years... 8-5 8-5 12-1 9-4 8-5 (dropped from #5 before FSU to unranked) 10-3 (with obligatory late season collapse - dropping the Stanford game and killed by tOSU in the bowl) 4-8 (with a total season long meltdown) 9-2 ('17 YTD...with 2 to go...) So based on history, track record and season rhythm how many are really feeling 11-2 is likely or 9-4 heart ache more likely? 11-2 would give kelly 3 "acceptable" seasons (defined as double digit wins given the fact that the season is now 13 games with a bowl or possibly 14 with a playoff berth someday, 10 wins is minimum acceptable territory...a standard that Notre Dame coaches should hit far more than they miss if they are any good at the job) in 8 years at the helm...0.375 percentage. I need this season to not crumble into the usual mess of late season losses and bowl game massacre. I need 11-2 to validate this season and this team in the same way the Cheerios Bowl made the '91 team special in its own way and memorable for decades to follow...
