Posted November 15, 20177 yr A little surprised ND is ahead of Ohio State - but ND still has the better overall resume IMO. 1. Alabama 2. Clemson 3. Miami 4. Oklahoma 5. Wisconsin 6. Auburn 7. Georgia 8. Notre Dame 9. Ohio State 10. Penn State 11. USC 12. TCU 13. Oklahoma State 14. Washington State 15. UCF 16. Mississippi State 17. Michigan State 18. Washington 19. North Carolina State 20. LSU 21. Memphis 22. Stanford 23. Northwestern 24. Michigan 25. Boise State
November 15, 20177 yr Cory was right in his other thread. Weirdly, ND could still have a shot at the final four. Ranking ND 8th shows me that the committee really likes ND. Of course a lot has to happen. We have to be Michigan and Bama fans for the next few weeks. I think we want Miami to win out. So Bama 1 Miami 2 Oklahoma 3 (unless TCU can knock them out. Which would be better.) ND 4 Georgia loses again and they drop by just sheer rankings. Last game of the year. Same with Clemson. Also losing to Syracuse hurts. Auburn would have three losses Wisky is our if they lose to Michigan. Basically need Michigan to beat Ohio St. And we’re in!!! Crazier crap had happened. I would love another shot at Miami though.
November 15, 20177 yr On top of what i just wrote. I’m taking a new approach. I want them to sneak into the playoffs. Think about this. IF ND can somehow sneak in, they would had played USC, MSU, Georgia, Miami, Stanford, and Bama all in one season. And possibly go 10-3 in that season. The frogs, sophomores, and juniors should be ready for anything the following year. That is how you build a team. So even if we get blown out by Bama in the playoffs, I’m all for it!
November 15, 20177 yr Still a lot of possible scenarios. The Irish aren't going to gain by beating Navy or Stanford. If Miami wins on Dec 5, Clemson will be out. The SEC will certainly have a team in the CFP--at least one, unfortunately. NDU would need Oklahoma and Wisconsin to lose, obviously, along with chaos in the SEC. Could happen. Not likely.

I predicted here a few weeks ago that Michigan will beat Wisky, hopefully that happens. We're gonna need Georgia to have 3 losses so hopefully GT beats them as well. I also think we need MSU and USC to win out, plus we are going to have to blow Stanford out like Miami did to us. so Wisky loses to Michigan but wins the big ten, do we get in over them? Michigan beats OSU then Penn State beats beats Wisky, do we get in over them? I think best case would be PSU as a 2 loss champ or one loss Wisky as we have better resumes than both, OSU would get in over us no doubt. I think there's still scenarios where Michigan or MSU could make the conference title so anything is possible atm. It could be us vs a one loss Wisky or a 2 loss PSU/OSU as a #4. It's possible but we need everything to fall into place, hopefully it keeps the boys hungry. Edited November 15, 20177 yr by ndomer4
November 15, 20177 yr Honestly we don't deserve the playoffs --we have 2 losses and just got pasted so bad it was embarrassing I would be thrilled IF and that's IF we can beat Stanford away and get 10 wins.....A nice match up in a bowl would be great Even if there is some odd scenario that got us in the fact we are struggling so right now should keep us hoping for 10 wins and s shot at 11 ---that's our best expectation aloha Edited November 15, 20177 yr by hawaiiirish
November 15, 20177 yr We end up 5th if Ohio State or Penn State win out. They will jump us. That is unless we destroy the remain 2 opponents. Then all bets are off. Need a few otherwise to lose to Alabama, etc.
November 15, 20177 yr Why in the EFF would we want to get in at No. 4 and then get blasted on New Year's day at the Sugar Bowl?
November 15, 20177 yr We end up 5th if Ohio State or Penn State win out. They will jump us. That is unless we destroy the remain 2 opponents. Then all bets are off. Need a few otherwise to lose to Alabama, etc. Clearly ND is getting a lot of love for three blowouts over teams in the current top 19. So all is not lost yet. Alabama takes out Auburn and Georgia. Michigan takes out Wisconsin. Miami takes out Clemson and ND is going to be right there. They could end up with 4 wins over ranked teams, which will likely be among the most, so they could end up with the best 2 loss resume. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out. And what difference does it make if they get blasted again? Has it hurt Ohio St. that they were blasted last year? Are recruits flocking away from Georgia because they were blasted? If you lose, you lose, you might as well lose vs the best.
November 15, 20177 yr Why in the EFF would we want to get in at No. 4 and then get blasted on New Year's day at the Sugar Bowl? THIS x100 If Miami beat the **** out of us, do people think we'd keep it respectable against Alabama? They would kill us by even more points without 4 turnovers
November 15, 20177 yr Why in the EFF would we want to get in at No. 4 and then get blasted on New Year's day at the Sugar Bowl? Reading man, c’mon! I’m hoping for a playoff game so BK basically doesn’t have to do his job. The one aspect he really sucks at, motivating players...If we get in the playoffs, smoked or not, these young guys would have had an amazing season at playing one of the most difficult schedules that I can remember. This team shouldn’t be shell shocked in their first true big road game next year. Playing the cotton bowl against Oklahoma St does nothing for this team. They need another big boy to finish this season off. Playoffs!

If you lose, you lose, you might as well lose vs the best. Exactly my thought as well. I’m looking at the big picture here. Next season and beyond. Also, the committee most definitely loves us. There’s a reason we didn’t drop behind tOSU. Better wins and better losses. This scenario you mentioned above could very well happen. Wisky could lose. Bama could smack Auburn and Georgia around. Not sure on Miami yet. But if they do beat Clemson then we lost to # 2 and probably #10. Pundits are saying we are out. I’m really not so sure anymore after looking at the schedules.

They would kill us by even more points without 4 turnovers And ohio state is more deserving? iowa destroyed them. Or Penn State who lost to a team we beat by 20 points? Point being everyone has had bad losses at least ours were to respectable teams
November 15, 20177 yr If ohio State wins out they'll definitely jump us I have no doubt regardless of what we do The only thing Ohio St has is a conference championship to play for. That is my only concern. The committee has shown you have to play for one.
November 15, 20177 yr The only thing Ohio St has is a conference championship to play for. That is my only concern. The committee has shown you have to play for one. Agree, without that id guess we would stay in front of them, but if they beat Wisconsin while our guys are sitting at home they'll jump us. People don't want to hear it but this is a year not getting a chance for one more big time win is going to really hurt our chances.
November 15, 20177 yr And ohio state is more deserving? iowa destroyed them. Or Penn State who lost to a team we beat by 20 points? Point being everyone has had bad losses at least ours were to respectable teams lol I 100% didn't even bring up whether or not ND would deserve it if the cards play out in our favor All I said is I'd rather not somehow sneak into the Playoffs only to get blown out by Alabama only furthering the notion that ND only gets into big bowls on its name. Didn't say anything about if we're deserving of it, or if another team is more deserving. I would just...rather not. Of course, that's just my opinion; I don't play on the team so whatever Edited November 15, 20177 yr by Franco

We are also going to have to beat Stanford by 20+.
November 15, 20177 yr What if: -Michigan beats Wisconsin and Ohio State. Who goes to the Big 10 Championship game in the East in that scenario? Penn State? -Oklahoma loses to West Virginia (who would be in the BigXII championship in this scenario?) -Auburn loses to Bama and Bama wins the SEC. -Miami defeats Clemson in the ACC Championship game. If the PAC-12 title game is between USC and Stanford and ND has beat both, then ND would be ahead of the PAC-12 champion regardless of what happens there. I think the Big10 only gets in if Ohio State runs the table and there's some unexpected chaos in the top 6 or Wisconsin goes undefeated. BigXII only gets in if Oklahoma runs the table from here on out.

Us only falling to 8 showed they love our body of work and think our resume is worthy.
