I know, I know. Crazy talk. They don't deserve it. They just got rolled by Miami. Yada yada yada.

But, to be an optimist, I think there is still a path for ND to make the playoffs and it isn't all that crazy.

Ok. St. beats OU in Big12 Title game.

Alabama beats Auburn and Georgia.

Wisconsin beats OSU.

Miami beats Clemson.

That gives you Alabama, Wisconsin and Miami with 0 losses.

Then, every other contender has 2+. You could argue ND, with 4-5 wins over ranked teams and both losses to top 10 teams has the best resume of that group.

You'd have Oklahoma St, Oklahoma, Clemson, Georgia and Notre Dame, with OU, Georgia and Clemson coming off of losses all with 2 losses. Would a Big 12 title put OSU over ND? A 2 loss SEC team couldn't be the second team in right?

Did I miss any other contenders? We aren't that far from total chaos at this point.

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until ND decides it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

I dont want them to go

I dont want them to go

This. Would be embarrassing. Saturday night looked like a Bob Davie ND game.

I have a question...why do u want ND to go to the playoffs?

I dont want them to go unless theyre going to be competitive....

We should want endeavors that are likely to yield positive results.

Now we know that we are going to have an incredibly tough time winning our new years bowl game...depending on who we play...and thats IF we win out...

Shake your head. Something is obviously loose.

ND going to the playoffs is like getting together with a really big girl. You might regret it, you might not want anyone to see it, but you still want to try it out and see if it might turn out well.

Didn't know the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor. Where's that in the history books or is CNN reporting false news again.

As far as history is concerned Georgia would get in over ND cause of that 1-point victory.

At this rate we will probably end up playing Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Auburn or Ohio State.

How do we like our chances in bowl game vs any of those teams?

I miss big girl love. Very generous lovers...

Maybe it's because I've seen them play more than any of those other teams, but I would NOT welcome a match-up with Mayfield and OU.

Depends on Wimbush's development from here on out.

If Wimbush improves his passing, ND could beat every single one of these teams. It would mean incredible strong execution from both the O and D.

Why not? Sure they might get blown out. But they might get blown out vs Auburn in the Cotton Bowl too. Should we only let them in the Armed Forces Bowl? ND can play with Wisconsin in this scenario. Alabama is more power than speed, so who knows. Miami on a neutral field? Why not give it a go.

Ohio St got blown out, should they not want to be in the playoffs? Georgia? It was one game, not the end of the season.

Have you never seen Animal House?

Have you never seen Animal House?

Clearly not

Obviously a bowl game is good for the extra practice. But a BCS bowl game ? With Kelly's track record the Irish would fail miserably.

The Irish are better suited for a 2nd tier bowl like the Pinstripe Bowl. At least they won't get embarrassed.

If they end up 10-2 prepare for ND to get their butts handed to them in a major bowl game.

You don't think ND could beat Wisconsin? Or Penn St? Or TCU? Or Oklahoma St?

Assuming Clemson, Alabama, Oklahoma and Ohio St./Miami are in the playoffs, Auburn is about the only team I don't think ND would beat/lose close to in the bowls. I think ND could beat Miami on a neutral field if they played again.

There's only two 2 loss teams with a shot and that's OSU and Auburn.

There are only a few teams I see as good match ups if we somehow beat Stanford, which I don't get why people here think is a given.

ND & Wisconsin would be a good game. OKS would have a field day against the Irish secondary. TCU and Ped State I think would beat ND.
