Win out now and 10-2 with a great bowl game is still in play! That's a great season! Don't give up! Yea, today sucked but we know we have a very good team.

Not hard to do better than 4-8 in your 8th season...

The injury report isn't full but I don't think we know how many guys are playing through injuries. I am starting to suspect many are as some guys just don't look anywhere near what they did even a few weeks ago.

I was opstimistic as anyone before tonight but as Elder would say I'm coming back down to earth. It's tough to win on the road and I have no reason to think Kelly will get his first win at Stanford.

Not sure 9-3 gets us a BCS bowl, so we can't get the big bowl monkey off our back but we might avoid a blowout by the hands of a TCU or OSU.

Anyone who thinks we have a very good team after watching tonight's debacle is living in a dream world, we are a decent team who when faced with adversity crumble.

Sweet! Let’s set the bar lower again and settle for 10-2, when I’m sure they’ll actually finish 9-4. Kelley is in his 8th season. I’m so tired of it!

Oh yeah, who else wants to back a brinks truck up to Elko’s house now? Wake Forest exposed him, and Miami took advantage and made him look worse!

Yes we can, but what stings so much about this one was the opportunity we had in front of us, and we lost- bad. Just wonder if we'll ever get over the hump. Sigh. This game felt like the Bama game in 2013 for the title. Either way, it is what it is. Will always love this team.

I will always love this team too, but when will they change!? Who knows?

I didn't say an elite team, I said very good one and they are. With all the records this team has broken and all the teams we have beat and beat soundly, with getting to #3 and being talked about in the NC hunt and a possible Heisman candidate, we are a very good team! Especially after last season! Believe what you want though.

No they aren't, they just aren't, how anybody can say that after what we witnessed tonight is a little difficult to comprehend. We looked like high schooler's vs an NFL team, and Miami isn't even that good. I salute your optimism, but BK will always crap the bed in big games.

Sorry but I don't agree because to me, that's "settling" which is something that this team has been doing for twenty plus years. You don't play the games for consolation prizes, the only goal is a title, regardless of how convoluted the process is.

Yep, even if we win out it'll be 10 losses in two years which is the mean of 5 losses per year with Kelly. We're headed nowhere and even when we're better we get humiliated. I guess people don't mind as long as they have the illusion of being elite for awhile.

Lol. Keep deleting realistic threads because they don’t align with your homerism

Keep on being shocked that a Notre Dame fan forum would be, on balance, pro-Irish, you imbecile.

This season is turning out to be a lot better than I originally thought,(record wise) but that loss, on the big stage, was horrible. I would rather see an 8-4 team that was competitive in all of their games, than a 9-3 (loss at stanford) or 10-2 team, that got embarrassed like that last night. Consider me not impressed.

10-2 teams at high profile programs will get better recruits, I think, than 8-4 teams. 10-2 teams maintain rankings, get more press, and more donations from alumni than 8-4 teams. ND, like most schools, tries to raise the majority of money for a building project before committing to it, rather than incur a lot of debt. 10-2 teams keep their fans committed and have higher expectations than fans of 8-4 teams.

10-2 teams should learn to keep their coaches and not fire them, in my opinion. Nebraska never recovered and now probably never will. Georgia had the right guy at the right time to replace their consistent 9-3/10-2 coach, who just happened to demolish ND last night at now 9-0 Miami.

I'll take a 10-2 team with a big loss now and then over an 8-4 team any time.

If we win out and put in a good performance in a high profile bowl game then it will have been a good season. 11-2 is not a failure.

However Brian Kelly has consistently not had his teams ready to go in go in prime time games on the road. Oklahoma is the one exception.

Just about everything that could go wrong did go wrong last night. We made them look like world beaters when in reality they are no great shakes, particularly on offense. Is wont rail on the D too much though after the offense was so pitiful and gave them zero help.

Josh Adams was not healthy either. If he can’t go 100% against a D that flies around then sit him. I wish we would have designed more QB draws, anything to get some 1st downs and stem the bleeding. It was a horrifically called game on offense. It seems we plumb new depths every year here . I thought we couldn’t do any worse than NC Stere last year but this was a massive turd sandwich.

They have changed and are much better than last year. A blind man can see the program is dramatically improved. Winning a title is very, very tough, but I'm not going to let one game take away from how enjoyable this season has been and the progress we have made.

Newsflash: No other coaches want this job. We are stuck with Kelly for right now. I will say, I did not like his body language and facial expressions during the 1st half when Miami starting whooping us. He looked utterly dejected. It is critical that he shows more confidence. I really did not like that. When you get punched, you punch back not sit and around and watch.

ND isn't like most schools when it comes to donations. ND has a $10 billion endowment. Comparing ND to Nebraska when it comes to money is unfair to Nebraska. In no way do they have, or will ever have, the money power of ND. They are a regional land grant school. Notre Dame is a national, elite private university. No comparison.

And how did you come up with "no other coaches want this job?" ND could pay more for a head coach than any university in the country. Unless the tenets of capitalism have changed, lots of coaches would want to be paid generational wealth to coach Notre Dame.

We have a huge advantage over most schools in terms of facilities and resources. What we don't have is a Athletic Director with any experience identifying and hiring a Div I Championship caliber coach. As long as we have Kelly and our Indianapolis lawyer running the show we're gonna stay in the place we're in. It is good enough for some of the fanbase, but every one of the alumni I know-and I suspect a lot of the subway alumni including the one's I know- want both Kelly and Swarbrick gone.
