Really interested to see if Michigan State can knock off the Buckeyes. That would really enhance our resume' with Michigan State climbing the ladder.

I am rooting for the bold. I left the UGA game off because I am not sure if I want UGA to lose or not. I really want Auburn to beat Bama, but I am not sure about the UGA game. I guess, ideally, I would like Auburn to beat both UGA and Bama.

U$C can clinch their division with a win this week.

Agree with everything here except waffling on Georgia. I'd rather they just win out. If we root for them to lose once, they have to lose twice. I think we might as well swim in their wake all the way to the playoffs, then hope for a rematch.

Agree with everything. I go back and forth on Georgia. I don't want two SEC teams in the CFP, so I am just rooting for Georgia or Alabama to end up with two losses.

But if I could only have two wins, give me Michigan State and USC. Those two would be Top 10 next week and likely finish 10-2. Add a win over Miami this weekend, and ND would be a virtual lock for the CFP at 11-1.

Don't forget Washington vs Stanford as well

I'm with yah on Georgia, I go back and forth as well. If Georgia loses to auburn and bama that would knock our loss down a bit but it would completely eliminate them from the playoffs and if auburn beats georgia and loses to bama and bama wins the sec title game it opens up a spot because there won't be 2 sec teams in. I think that would be hugely beneficial to am 11-1 nd if there is an additional spot for a 12-1 conference champs nd would be more likely to get in then if 2 sec teams make it

I don't think we NEED to see UGA win out, but I do think it improves the chances of getting in. Yes, I firmly believe ND controls their own destiny and gets in either way, but it would just be nice not to have to hear any debate about 1-loss teams when 2 of those teams are Notre Dame and the team that handed them that 1 loss.

Either way, ND winning out and UGA winning out takes it from a 99.99998% chance to 100% for ND in the playoffs in my opinion

Whatever happens that can keep us from having to play bama and georgia in back to back games i am rooting for.

But we have to beat Miami AND Stanford after a killer navy game.

I think I’d rather have Georgia lose today.

Then if they win out, ND has a better resume than Alabama, or If they lose, they are out with 2 losses.

I think worst case for ND is Georgia only losing in SEC title game.

I can dig it.

Living and working near TCU, my nightmare scenario is for ND to lose and TCU win today. TCU has clearly done great things in the last decade but I have always felt like part of their ascent has been timing. Texas has been down and Oklahoma has had a few up and down seasons.

If ND wins today I don't really care who wins between Oklahoma and TCU. Between those two teams, I hope whoever wins today loses to the other in their conference championship game three weeks from now.

Other than Miami, I hope every other ND opponent wins today. If ND wins out it seems very unlikely they are left out of the playoff regardless of what happens with other teams the rest of the season. More wins by ND opponents only makes ND look that much better to the playoff committee.

If ND loses any of the last three games the season will still have far exceeded my expectations. Win two of them or three of them and I think ND will end up winning a surprise recruit as well.

Stanford beat Washington last night, 30-22, which pretty much eliminates the Pac-12 from the CFP. Even though I think 11-1 ND would have gotten in over 12-1 Washington, now it doesn't matter. Also a nice win for our SOS - Stanford will most likely be Top 25 when ND plays them.

Temple also beat Cincinnati 35-24. Temple is now 5-5.

In my mind, the CFP is pretty simple. I think that only the top 8 ranked teams have a shot at the CFP given that they all have zero or one loss. I assume that there will be at least four teams with zero or one loss and the CFP teams will come from that group.

As a result, I believe that any of the four one loss teams that lose a second game is out. Wisconsin probably also cannot afford to lose.

Regardless of whatever else happens, ND has to win out. Loser of OK/TCU and Miami are below ND if that happens leaving just 2 out of 5 teams (not counting ND) that need to be below ND. For me, the chance of everything else breaking perfectly for a 11-1 ND to be left out is fairly small.

Also, assuming that Southern Cal and Stanford play in the Pac 12 championship game, ND will be able to say that they "won" the Pac 12 in a sense by beating the Pac 12 champ and runner-up helping to defuse the potential Conference Championship argument. Hopefully, Miami will lose to ND and win the ACC giving the Irish a claim to a "pseudo" ACC championship as well.

At this point it shouldn’t matter. Just beat Miami and ND stays third waiting for Navy. Referring to the MSU Ohio St. game. I can see the committee moving them to 9th. They love them some Buckeyes.

100% agree - it really doesn't matter for ND. MSU will still be Top 25, despite this blowout. I just don't want to see OSU sneak back into the Top 4 if they blow out Wisconsin in the Big Ten Title Game. A lot would need to happen obviously, but if there is any team the committee loves, it's OSU.

Yeah, hopefully MSU can at least find a gear and make this look respectable.

At this point, probably not unless they tack on some cosmetic scores/style points.

Tonight's game is looking more and more like a must win and hopefully convincingly.
