We've flirted with this moniker before, but now we dominate it. According to the current rankings Notre Dame is #3 in football, #6 in Women's basketball and #14 in men's basketball.
Should the Irish defeat Miami this Saturday we've pretty much garnered a top 4 finish in football.
The women are entirely under ranked at #6 because that ranking was done before Jessica Shepherd became eligible. She is a big time transfer from Nebraska and was the #1 center in high school 3 years ago. She is 6' 4'' and averaged a double double. She can shoot the 3 or post you up.
The men are a legitimate Sweet 16 team and could go higher. Their recruiting is off the charts bringing in top 100 players.
Who are the challengers?? Hard to say any more. Connecticut sucks at football and the men's basketball took a nose dive when they were kicked out of the Big East. Alabama and Georgia never amount to a hill of beans in basketball.
Kentucky just can't ever crack the top 25 in football. Ohio State does pretty well in football and women's basketball but can't surpass us in any of the three categories. Stanford at least shows up in football and women's basketball but not men's basketball.
Can you guys think of anybody that could challenge us?? I say we run away with this event and might well take the Sears Trophy or whatever they call it these days.
