Now that is some funny stuff. I will say, they keep forgetting about how their defensive stats are scewed by all the wonderful tough teams the’ve played.

Bethume, Arkansas St., Toledo, Duke. If there is one measuring stick it’s North Carolina, and by just looking at the score is not in their favor. We beat NC pretty easily with our backup qb and a lot of other backups in.

Well, I do not know if there have been others among us looking for redemption for the 3rd and 43 conversion...but, I STILL want satisfaction for that play...the game may have still had the same outcome back then, but if Pat Terrell (who was the hero in '88 on the 2-pt attempt) had not gotten a really bad angle/read and instead made a play on the ball instead of biting up underneath the streak routes, that could have swung momentum and changed the way that game ended up. We'll never know for sure, but that was a crusher.

 

Watching the 30 for 30 "Catholics vs. Convicts" again last night and my wife was dumbfounded...she actually asked me why I was agitated about some of the quotes from Searcy and Gary and especially Pig-faced Satan. I looked at her like she had lost her mind! My wife and I met in '89. The night of the ND-Miami game that year we had been dating for less than 3 months. This woman saw me completely lose my mind that night and become a surly asshat for a month afterward, only getting "over it" after semester break and the end of the season...and she was asking "why?" I looked back at her like she had just sprung a second head...

 

Let's just say that she is lucky we have 5 children and a 22nd year of marriage under our belts, because having sympathy or understanding for "da U" is NEVER going to happen in my soul, ever and the act of suggesting clemency for time served or passed is likewise NEVER happening. Hated those bastards in '83, '84, '85, '87, '88, '89, '90, '10 (Sun Bowl...still LOVE those shots of Miami players bundled up like it was Antarctica that day), '12 and '16 and hate them every bit as much in '17 and forever beyond. Just be sure to wear the Orange Jerseys...none of that bastardized all black or 2001-era Green nonsense...ND - Miami should be played with the right uniforms, and that precludes "alternates"...I hated those horse pajamas's we wore in Chicago back in '12 and that helmet design...Jesus Christ crucified, that took a lot of the luster of 41-3 away...

 

And for the whining and incessant BS Miami and its fans put up regarding the Cleveland Gary call in '88...step back and look at the TD "catch" that was gifted to Brown on the 4th down pass play to draw within a point...that was nowhere CLOSE to a catch, so the Gary play was clearly "paid back" by the Zebras... Jimmy Johnson's whiny little self talking about "I told you don't leave it in the hands of the officials at Notre Dame..." Suck it Jimmy...you took the "L" you deserved that day and I'm glad that it bothers you all these years later too! Misery (and rivalry) loves company!

BTW, the funny thing is they actually have a thread or two where they call out statistics showing they're a better team (read: that fit their narrative)

Yeah, I get stats aren't everything, but if you are going to claim your defense is better than Georgia, you better not be between Purdue and Texas in yard allowed. Or tied with Indiana in yards per carry allowed. Or tied with Troy in scoring defense.

 

Georgia shows up in the top 10 of nearly every defensive category. Miami makes it in a couple passing categories. But I'm sure that has nothing to do with facing 5 teams ranked 89th or lower in passing and 3 in the 100's. Oh, and an FCS team. That's purely coincidental.

I just watched a replay of that pass............apply today's rules, that is ruled incomplete all day long.
