What kind of get is this?

Lengthy kid with solid speed and versatile.

247 just recently moved him up pretty significantly in their rankings to the mid 400s. Some definite upside and would be a very nice 3rd corner in this class.

Do you think he suddenly became a take because they aren't as confident in higher level guys? I'm concerned about irvin, Bracy, taylor and Gordon now. I heard 3 cb's so with Wilkins in the mix were clearly striking out on some of those 4

It sounds like ND was playing him slowly through the summer wanting to see film, but maybe this take was more due to others like Burton, etc. committing elsewhere than worry about Gordon, Bracy, etc. They do like his measurables though as Vegas mentioned. Hope we can still land those other 2.

No, just like Bracy, the coaches simply wanted to get him on campus to see how he meshed with the players and the atmosphere at ND. He was a take all the way. They love him.

Also, there is a recruit committed elsewhere that irishillustrated won’t name that they are pretty confident ends up at ND. Could be a variety of guys.

Don’t be worried about corner recruiting. Wilkins was a definite take. Taylor is probably a long shot, and Irvin seems to be leaning USC, but Gordon and Bracy specifically have ND in the lead or in the top group. Boykin is still someone to think about. Depending on who the recruit committed elsewhere is, that could be really good news as well. They say Irish fans will be happy about it

This is excellent news all around. Wilkins has great size at 6'2". Trust in Elko with defense. Article I read about Wilkins recruitment stated that Lyght played a key role here. Corners will be fine.

he's a project, not the most talented prospect on the board but ND needed a CB.

I'm guessing that's Cade Mays. He just decommitted from Tennessee.

Holy Crap, if they land Mays, that would be beyond huge... Just sayin'

Thought he decommitted after taking trip to UGA?

No, it is a corner commit. Sorry if that wasn't clear.

Noah Boykin? would be awesome to land him.

I think Wilkins is a solid pick up. Forces some other CB recruits to consider jumping on board a little more seriously than waiting around. He is a nice prospect and clearly needs more experience. This is his first year really playing CB and he's pretty good. He is a smooth and fluid athlete which you can see on his tape. He also knows how to go after the football with his WR background. I think he is a solid third CB for this class and in a couple years could work into the starter. Worst case a very good special teams player that all teams need. The tools all look like they are there.

Definitely possible, but I don't think it is name that has been bounced around recently.

Just to clear things up.

The possible flip candidate is a corner commit. Sorry if that wasn't originally made clear.

Okay, so I didn't want to say it earlier because it wasn't released on 247 sports, but the CB prospect could very well be Houston Griffith. Would obviously be a huge get.

Now that would be huge. If so, then one of the other three corners better jump on board because there’s only one spot left.

I know Griffith is from Chicago and just recently moved to Florida. Thought this would be the class we needed if we landed him and Derrik Allen together.
