Ok, I'll be the "that" guy but damn, at least 14 comparatively easy points left on the field. Wimbush is dynamic and I am not putting his play down BUT they were near the end zone WIDE open and the ball goes over their head. Something he needs to work on. If he can get a handle on his "big arm", the sky is the limit. Seriously, the score should have been in the 50's!

Oh, and come on receivers, lay out for some of those passes! Some fingertip hitting near misses that should have been caught. Yep, during this magical season (so far) I am being a bit critical. Love this team though!

I'm with you. There have been several passes that were just a couple inches too long and some guys that should have laid out. Several drops, too, while we're at. Several unbelievable catches, too, so they kind of offset...

So glad that we have been able overcome them - the margin for error hasn't been that close that it cost us - yet.

I am hopeful that these will work themselves out over the rest of the season...

just dont forget that he is still a first year starter and still learning... Irish Illustrated had a great gif on their tweitter timeline showing how he is now throwing to areas where as in the past (UGA) game he didnt anticipate. He is making progress

against USC wimbush had about 3 or 4 passes that he threw down field that were oh so close (they were about 1 yard to long). against NCST he had two I can think of, one to ESB were he laid out and almost caught and one to sptepherson on a deep ball on the goalline (was surprised KS didn't layout for it). those are passes he needs to connect on but they weren't over thrown by much. the score probably should have been 49-14 vs NCST, with the overthrown ball to stepehrson at the goalline and kneeling on the 3 yardline to run out the game clock.

What happen to javon mckinley, did he redshirt? Also our former player jalen guyton is playing really well.

If I had a dollar for every time I said "He's got no touch!"

He has padsed that were grossly overthrown for sure. He also has passed that led to somewhat disappointing WR results. I’m not knocking Eq, but there’s drops & touches that fuller, tate, etc would’ve completed. On a similar note, i miss having a big jump ball snatcher like floyd & stovall that made qb’s look good

This is the one area that bummed me out in the NCSt game as well (Aside from poor special teams play of course). Was that Boykin that he overthrew by about 6 inches on the long bomb? He is getting better and I think if he dials in that long ball you are looking at a future first rounder instead of a college legend.

He's actually been getting better with the deep passes, overthrowing his receivers less and less

BK decided to redshirt javon this year because they used him last year on special teams. still not a fan of burning a freshman year just to cover kicks.

Boykin was held and that kept him from making the catch. A missed pass interference call

I know that one, there was another one I have to see if I can find. May have been Claypool.

Edit: Looks like it was Stepherson in 4th Q.

Completely agree on this. It's something that's driven me nuts all year. My theory is he's so afraid to throw an interception by being slightly underthrown, that he overcompensates and leads his receiver a yard or two too far.

The other thing, and this is on the receivers, but I feel like we come down with very few 50/50 balls and our opponents come down with more than their fair share of them. Drives me crazy.

Possition specific for me... specifically RB... RBs either contribute early and leave or not. Dont see many 5th year Sr Rbs

I will say that he has just barely missing his deep throws the past few games. In fact, most of them are hitting the receiver's fingertips. While it does suck we did not put up more points, I am not overly concerned because it seems like Wimbush is getting closer and closer. When Wimbush starts hitting those throws, he could be the most dynamic player in college football.

better overthrown and incomplete than underthrown and intercepted.

I noticed that too. I thought that was the reason we were getting these jumbo receivers, to out muscle smaller db's.

Golden tate and tj jones was good at that. I guess it's not the size of the dog in the fight...

You're correct. Our passing game leaves a lot to be desired and it's not all on Wimbush. It's crazy to think with a game breaker at receiver and a more polished passer we would be extremely tough to beat.. However you get what you get, and I don't think an extremely polished passer would have the athleticism Wimbush has to get us out of some hairy situations.

How bout on target for six points?

its always something guys. Can't we just enjoy it for even a moment?

He's not a finished product his mechanics get loose and he's leaning back when he throws it alot like a javelin or bow and arrow causing the ball to go high.
