Sorry again, but I'm bored and have to work here in little while so I'll make this thread again lol.

Stars:

Offensive Line, these guys are getting it done and wearing down teams in the trenches. They get stronger every game IMO. State's DL is no joke and I thought uh-oh after that first series with two sacks. But adjustments were made and will imposed. The hogs look like they are having a ball knocking the **** out of every opponent.

Adams, kid is awesome and so humble about his success. There were a couple times he just barely missed rattling off some long runs and instead only got 8-10. That's awesome!

Smythe had some clutch catches out there, that toed stretched out catch on the side line was fantastic, what body control and concentration. I still wish we used the TEs more or rather Smythe instead of Mack. Smythe has been consistently catching the passes sent his way comparatively.

Wimbush is getting more comfortable and those deep passes are getting better. No turnovers. The game is slowing down for him I think and his passing is getting better.

Defense. Great game all around by everyone. They scored once on us. Opportunistic and flying to the ball with gang tackles. Starters and reserves are almost getting interchangeable in my eyes, there is minimal drop off out there which is unbelievable. We are young and have a lot to look forward to with these guys.

Coaches, another great game. Team was prepared and ready to play. I was worried about the SC hangover, but didn't see it. We played our game and the game plan seemed pretty consistent, not panicky after the punt TO and score by them. Our players appeared fresh whole game, conditioning etc means a lot down the stretch, not seeing drop off from beginning of season. It actually appears to be the opposite our guys are stronger, healthier, and more confident from the tangible results of the new S&C.

Frownies:

Special teams obviously was the most glaring with the TO and TD by State. Punting early on wasn't good, partially because into wind too I suppose. Let a big return happen on KO too. Thankfully we covered over the punt with that INT TD.

Get Wimbush and Adams out of game earlier. Having BW in the game mid 4Q to just feed hand offs doesn't make any sense to me, why take the chance of him getting banged up with the game in the bag. Same with Adams, Heisman stats look nice, but we want the players healthy to keep this train rolling.

Agree with everything.

Smythe is really playing well. He was huge today. The TD and then that twinkle toes catch for the first down was just awesome. He deserves a ton of credit.

The O line is just awesome. I have to give them all the credit. The holes they open up are amazing. They just wear teams down. You may stop us the first few drives but eventually we will wear your *** out!

This is old school ND football at its best right now.

Nice write up!

I'd add Stepherson to the golds...He's opening things up for the offense and could have had better numbers if Wimbush could hit him as he's running down the field wide open.

Frown:

Mack...First, I hope he's not hurt, but it seems like he drops everything.

Dexter...WTF...Talk about disappearing....Hurt forever and played like one insignificant series yesterday..

Gold: Secondary. Holy cow. I’ve never seen a Notre Dame team break on the ball so well. We just faced one of the most accurate QBs in CFB and held him under 50%. Even the passes he completed were mostly very good catches by WRs.

frown for me: Felt like playcalling was a questionable down the stretch where we probably could have really blown it out 50+

I remember one...I think we were backed up around our own 10 yard line. We gained a good 4 yards on a run for 1st down. 2nd down, we call a go route down the sideline...went 3 and out. That go route was a really odd call to me

Wimbush's accuracy on the long balls is honing in. A little bit better than the USC game and we mentioned it was getting there too...every game, ever so slowly, Wimbush is overthrowing our receivers less and less

Gold stars

Stepherson. We may have a number one wideout now. Esb isn't quite ready.

Smythe. I was ready to officially bury the Tight end U title but durham revived it. For now. He's a stud if he can stay healthy.

The oline. Right tackle is a little shakey but overall they beat you up.

Adams. What can you say

Autry denson. Just like procise adams waits for the opening and then explodes through it. It must be the coach teaching it.

Mcintosh. Looks like he jumped from number 4 to number 2.

Elko. I wonder if bvg still watches nd games. It's got to hurt to see a defense that was suppose to struggle be a strength.

The post game alma mater. I love that, and now they display the words. I dont think they do that for any other team. Thanks charlie.

Frowny faces

Special teams is still a work in progress.

This success has yet to translate into better recruiting.

Give me a minute, I'm thinking...

We let georgia steal that win.

My only add and it's just a very specific thing:

Gold star

Short and intermediate pass defense. I can't remember a Notre Dame team, even 2012, who defensed that part of the field so well with pass breakups. They're playing like the best defenses in college and the NFL with great coverage and anticipation. I remember ND teams being chewed to pieces by those slants and curls and such. Not this team, or at least not with the gameplan they went into NCSt with. Big kudos.

Only frowny face I can think of is ST. ST is not killing us against good teams, but they could be a backbreaker against elite teams.

Agree. We may ocassionally surrender the long ball, but we're contesting almost every ball and our pass breakup technique is awesome.

We are turning into a bully and I love it. Two top 15 teams have come to our house and got their asses beat. Both teams gave up by the 4th quarter, we had broken their will.

Both teams playing the game so they could get out of South Bend as quickly as possible so we don't hurt them anymore. Bring on Bama!

I thought he could have laid out for that one in the end zone. That was not much of an overthrow and he could have made an effort for it at least.

Not sure he could have got to that ball but I do think our receivers don't go all out to make plays. Opposing teams have had guys make amazing catches against us. We need guys to make tough catches. Although I am starting to think our wideouts are more for blocking then catching.

Does anyone know if Alize got a concussion or was faking it because he dropped another ball?

one more frowny face

do we still need to use my grandmas phone to talk to the qb coach?

Good point! I noticed how both of these highly ranked teams just gave up in the fourth quarter and were beat down. Very good sign going forward that ND can impose its will on top tier teams.

I was also impressed with how we responded to the blocked punt. We haven't really had a turnover like that immediately turn into points.

We face some adversity so what do we do? Go 80 yards in 2 plays for a touchdown.

More good news nobody is talking about, USC stomped an ASU team that was on a bit of a roll. SC obviously isn't a top 10 team, but they are in a position to win out and go into the Pac 12 Title game. They have a tough UA team, but that's at home as is the final game v UCLA. In between they go on the road at Colorado, who has been a massive disappointment. They get to 10 wins, that's a huge feather in ND's cap.

I think everything else has been said and I agree with all the Gold Stars

I would like to add a frowny face:

Mack simply cannot make the big plays, I know some say he may leave for the NFL, but I do not see it. Show me his body of work and tell me how that translates to a NFL caliber draft pick...

-GOLD STARS-

-the running game did very well against the 6th ranked run defense. the 1st quarter was a stale mate with ND making a few plays and with NCST making a few plays but ND stuck with it and kept hammering away. then in the 2nd quarter who could see the ND line starting to take over and take it to NSCT.

-wimbush did a good job passing. more accurate and seemed to be more comfortable.

-the defense played great, specially the secondary. they took away all the short routes and made things more difficult then NCST was probably use to.

-Myron Tagovailoa-Amosa did it again on the 4th down stop in the 3rd quarter. just like against BC he penetrated the backfield and forced the back out letting coney clean up the play.

-FROWNIE FACES-

-kick off coverage is still an issue.

-the blocked punt should happen, need better protection than that.

-dexter Williams still not playing. after a month of not playing maybe the coaches are trying to ease him back into the game. im beginning to wonder if the coaching staff is going out of their way not to play him, no way is tony jones or mcntosh better than him.

Gold Star

Wimbush completed an excellent throw to Smythe with anticipation

Wimbush threw the ball even before Smythe got out of his break. That's what I like to see!

I second dangeruss' note; Wimbush is looking much more comfortable in the pocket. I really think this is due to the coaches finally telling Wimbush that he can take off if he doesn't like what he sees. The first few games, they were trying to keep Wimbush in the pocket on passing plays

Funnily enough, this had the odd effect of Wimbush actually staying in the pocket longer and feeling more comfortable knowing that he can take off at any time

Gold Stars

The left side of the offensive line and Sam Mustiper

The power lineup with brock Wright as the fullback

Josh Adams. Again.

The cornerbacks and safeties. Broken up passes, solid tackling, an interception

The front 7. They couldn't run

The passing game. Still not perfect but made big plays when needed. Wimbush is still missing wide open home run passes, but that throw to Boykin would have been a TD. He threw some nice passes tomove the chains and ran for at least one long gain.

Frowny Faces

The punt block and kickoff return team.

Right tackle- Kraemer/Hainsey struggled both in pass protection and run blocking against a very good NCST DE. McGlinchy also got beat early on for a sack.

I think everything else has been said and I agree with all the Gold Stars

I would like to add a frowny face:

I can't lie, i seriously thought you were dead or in jail.

Welcome home.

Haha, thanks man. Im alive and well; police cant catch me! :p
