Posted October 22, 20177 yr Coaches finally got it right, we are at #10. If anyone sees the AP up whenever post it here, I think we'll be around the same.
October 22, 20177 yr We are #10 in the AP http://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings Sorry this is coaches poll. My bad.
October 22, 20177 yr AP #9!!! http://collegefootball.ap.org/poll #9 is what I predicted in another thread. Great spot because we are ahead of OU and OKst. We control our destiny.
October 22, 20177 yr #9 is what I predicted in another thread. Great spot because we are ahead of OU and OKst. We control our destiny. You do realize that these two polls mean jack crap right? ND could be unranked and it doesn't matter. Who cares.
October 22, 20177 yr You do realize that these two polls mean jack crap right? ND could be unranked and it doesn't matter. Who cares. Not so fast, my friend. After that ***-whooping of U$C, and the season they had had so far some recognition was well-deserved. That being said. means nothing if they do not win out.
October 22, 20177 yr You do realize that these two polls mean jack crap right? ND could be unranked and it doesn't matter. Who cares. Don’t tell me the selection committee doesn’t notice these things.
October 22, 20177 yr Poll position is clearly starting to matter for everybody with a chance for the playoffs.... 9 is a fine spot---penn state/ohio state/ Wisconsin compete for the big tens spot----very unlikely 2 could get in Alabama/ Georgia compete for the SEC spot Clemson/ Miami compete for the ACC spot----beating Miami by us could knock them both out last spot Big 12/ pac 10/ ND compete---Pac 10 likely OUT already BIG 12 unclear ND at 9----we win the next 5 I have to believe the MATH & THE MONEY will be on ND and our schedule 11-1 ND--88% we get in THE HARD PART IS WINNING THE NEXT 5 aloha
October 22, 20177 yr You do realize that these two polls mean jack crap right? ND could be unranked and it doesn't matter. Who cares. So you think the committee doesn't even glance at the ap poll?
October 22, 20177 yr Don’t tell me the selection committee doesn’t notice these things. If you look at the selection committee protocol, yes, they look at it, but it is low on the totem pole. If you look at the voting process there is no way it will end up like the ap and coaches poles. They do not play into the media bias. To look at these polls and think about how they can position themselves and move up is silly because they will be different come Oct. 31. If ND is 8 in AP and everyone still wins ahead of them, that does not mean that they won't be 4 on Oct. 31. The committee doesn't care where they are in those polls. So, no I pay no attention to these polls.

October 22, 20177 yr Poll position means nothing until Oct. 31st. I think Hawaii forgot about TCU in the inaugural playoff. PP doesn't mean sheeyat. They're gonna re-rank you based off your resume after the championships are played regardless of the previous weeks ranking. I'm starting to worry about not playing a 13th game and how that may hurt us if some of these teams retain strong resumes and win a conference title.
October 22, 20177 yr Poll position means nothing until Oct. 31st. Would it be possible for you to bugger off and let those that do somewhat pay attention to the polls discuss them in peace? Or must everyone disregard them because you do? Just wondering.:ranger:

Notre Dame will have a bullet proof schedule if it goes 11-1. The emergence of NC State and Miami has done wonders for the schedule. Solid players like MSU and Stanford ticking along as ranked teams and not tanking is also key. Georgia being an elite team negates our loss and nobody is going to argue with this resume, if, if we win the next 5.

Georgia being an elite team negates our loss and nobody is going to argue with this resume, if, if we win the next 5. Even Boston College is kicking in some solid wins. In many ways, I think losing to Georgia by 1 point was actually the best outcome we could have for that game.

October 22, 20177 yr Poll position means nothing until Oct. 31st. Wow Debbie Downer. Relish in the shine of a blow out victory over arguably our greatest rival.
October 22, 20177 yr Well, the pac10 is out, and the pac12 is probably out too. No way Washington State gets in with the way they got killed. Washington has no marquee wins and a bad loss to asu. Big ten most likely gets 1, two is possible if the sec stumbles. I’m convinced sec gets 2. If Georgia and bama are both undefeated, only a big Georgia loss would knock them out. Which leaves 1 spot for nd/acc/big 12. If the big 12 has undefeated tcu, now the big question is do you put Notre Dame in over Georgia? And does the defending champ with one loss get knocked out by another 1 loss team (Georgia or Notre Dame)? Either way, it doesn’t matter, because it’s college football and it’s wild. Teams will lose games they shouldn’t with a full month left.
October 22, 20177 yr In many ways, I think losing to Georgia by 1 point was actually the best outcome we could have for that game. Except, of course, just winning that game. Well, the pac10 is out, and the pac12 is probably out too. Which leaves 1 spot for nd/acc/big 12. If the big 12 has undefeated tcu, now the big question is do you put Notre Dame in over Georgia? And does the defending champ with one loss get knocked out by another 1 loss team (Georgia or Notre Dame)? I agree that the pac10 AND pac12 are out lol. I don’t think anyone would be comfortable if UGA ends up with one loss and ND gets the nod.
October 22, 20177 yr The amazing thing about this ranking is that, for the first time in a while I think, this ranking was earned. From unranked these guys fought their way to a top 10 ranking. Whatever happens the guys have already given quite a ride. They soundly beat the teams they should beat, they beat ranked opponents and they held their own against the number 3 team in the nation. Here’s to hoping they can finish strong, I think most of us who predicted four or five losses will be happy to be wrong.
October 23, 20177 yr There is ZERO chance an 11-1 ND team this year is held out of the playoffs. That being said, looonnnnngggg way to go to get to 11-1
