I have no quarrel with those who think our one loss #13 team is just a MIRAGE !

Our record against ranked teams has been CHECKERED at best..

Our performance in big games has been kinda miserable...

Close but no cigar is the ND WAY!

So from me, observers are correct to be HIGHLY SKEPTICAL of the true quality of this IRISH TEAM....

Now don't get me wrong, I like the way our team plays, I like Wimbush , I think we have a good chance against USC,,,,and frankly think we could play with almost any team but Alabama and maybe OSU.

BUT WE HAVE NO STANDING TO DEMAND RESPECT FROM THE FOOTBALL WORLD!

WE ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO EARN THAT RESPECT.....and that's something we have failed to do often....so many years, so many games of VALIDADTING skepticism rather then burying it.

And now, like it has been so many times, its USC that stands in the way of regaining some degree of the respect lost in 2016...

We have opportunities rolling at us----USC/MIAMI/NC STATE----

We absolutely can get the attention and respect we crave from those games

BUT we have to do more then play tough, then lose a close one, then end up whining about some REF robbery or some such.....

We need more then coulda been's and excuses.....

KELLY & THE IRISH HAVE TO WIN !!!! or once again we validate the skeptics

WIN AND WIN AGAIN THATS THE TICKET!

Nobody will or should hand us respect....RESPECT HAS TO BE EARNED...

Saturday we can do that.

Normally I do not post, but I felt I had to this time. The post by Hawiiirish is dead on. Respect has to be earned.

I had the chance to watch both ND during closed practices and went to the Miami (Ohio) game a couple of weeks ago. This team is more than capable of beating anybody on the rest of the schedule, but at the end of the day you are what your record is! Believe me, as a high school coach having a tough season nobody knows that better than me! LOL!

ND is exactly where they deserve to be right now! However, I think we are moving on up! GO IRISH!!

I'm drowning in cliches....

Great post and Keep posting! The more Irish fans we got contributing here the better!

Exactly we can prove we can finally beat the good teams or we'll lose another close game and prove we're just another 8 win Kelly team. With the team we have anything under 10 wins is a major disappointment, and I think this team is better than our 2015 squad. I have a feeling a playoff spot is on the line at the barn to end the season.

Completely agree, everything is in front of this team and they are definitely capable of getting to double digit wins this season. In saying that would anyone be completely shocked if they drop 3 or even 4 down the stretch? To this point the off season changes have worked remarkably but the next 6 games will truly determine if they made a major difference

Lou on earning respect.

Which Hollywood actor did you picture reciting that? I went with Gary Busey.

Haha. Hmmm... If I had to pick, it might be Jack Nicholson. Ha! "I picture a man, and then I remove reason and accountability...."

I'm going off the board with this one and saying Jim Brewer with a bit of a stoner lilt....a la "who's coming with me man?" in Half Baked

nose and nose with these f@cks...nobody comes into our house and pushes us around. We've been saying for a few years how 2017 we would be stocked and now just so happened to have a fresh coaching staff..we are ready!!!

The atmosphere should be amazing. Very eager to see what type of defensive strategy Elko employs. Could see him blitz a bit more. Contain Jones and get consistent pressure on Darold- win the game.

Just please, please, PLEASE do not wear the green jerseys...

I will be stunned if they DON'T wear the Green throwbacks...I was at the game 10 years ago when Poodle ran it up on us - even using a challenge to prevent a first down while up 31-0 - and we wore them that day and put a stench into the memory of '77 that demands removal.

What better way to redeem the practice of wearing the Green than to revive it for the 40th anniversary and to right a wrong from the past 25 years in the process?

Truth be told, I don't care if roll out of the tunnel in Faust-error Royal Blues as long as at the end of the day we beat Southern Cal. I'd LOVE a 38-0 pay back, but I'd be just as thrilled with a revival of Robert Hughes ramming it down their throat in the Coliseum too!

Go Irish!

Beat Trojans!

Just please, please, PLEASE do not wear the green jerseys...

Seconded. Beat those fcukers straight up like it's nothing special. The green jersey's should be a once every 10 year type thing.

Since it's Hawaii saying it, I could do Paul Rudd from forgetting sarah marshall as chuck/kunu... "man, when life gives you lemons, I say f*** the lemons and bail." In other words, what the 2016 squad did..

Just please, please, PLEASE do not wear the green jerseys...

An interesting history of the green jerseys (article written in 2010): http://www.und.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/092315aam.html

If the ND players aren't motivated enough by this game, no green-colored jersey is going to help. This is one of those pivotal games, a game that will be a true measure of just where this program is. Lose the game and be relegated to the irrelevant pile for another two + years. Win it and watch the pundits take notice.

i.e. Watch the pundits scramble to come up with a reason why USC is in a "down cycle" and "of course ND beat them. They should, they're at home"

I'm hoping for top 10 if we win, but won't be shocked if we're not....of course, gotta get that W first
