Well the coaches poll is out and I don't like it again. We still play #25 Stanford, #24 Navy, #20 NC State, #13 USC, and #10 Miami. Talk about a backloaded schedule.

It's probably because it's Michigan but how are they ahead of us? We lost to #5 by 1 and we beat #22 by 20 on the road who beat them at home. We have a better win, a better loss and have looked much better in all of our wins.

I expect us to be higher in the AP poll.

My OP was about the Coaches Poll, the AP poll is much better and has ND right where I expected them to be.

SDSU beat Stanford, a ranked team, until we do the same they deserve to be ahead of us, which is super super super sad.

We have a win over a ranked team though (MSU).

I would say that MSU may turn out to be good, but really isn't true. If Meatchicken's starting QB plays they would have won comfortably. Fortunately their backup QB is all kinds of awful. They should change his name from O'Korn to Oh Crap.

Yep, a higher ranked win, but I suppose they don't have a loss yet. They haven't played a Georgia yet either though.

Just as I said yesterday...15-17. Yes the Irish are 5-1 but they are beating up on pretenders not contenders.

COMPLETELY agree. There’s no way our resume stacks up with the top 1-loss team, #9 Ohio state. Not only did they win a very challenging conference game against Indiana, they’ve beaten teams from the east coast all the way out to the west - juggernaut Rutgers, one of the all-time winningest programs in Army and eloquently felled the west coast attack of UNLV. Mix in a very proud Maryland program and this team has proven much more than anything Notre dame has shown. All this and only one loss.

Until Notre dame can put that together, we won’t come close to being ranked like the buckeyes.

True but they have been handling those teams a little better than we have been handling teams I believe. I wonder if BK led teams couldn't or that he just wouldn't run up the score.

Meyer knows it's a beauty contest and that's gotten him into the playoff before, I'm hoping BK finally realizes this.

The good thing is the backups have played so much we have no major injuries and have guys gain experience. We're getting to the challenging part after a bye and the team is so fresh it's like we just got out of training camp.

Don't forget they lost by 15 points at home to OU who then promptly lost at home to a 31 point underdog.

If you were to lay out your own top 25, based on what we know now and not preseason predictions, where would ND be?

Based on actual resumes, I'd have:

1. Clemson

2. Georgia

3. Washington St.

4. Alabama

5. TCU

6. Notre Dame

7. Auburn

8. Miami

9. USC

10. Oklahoma?

11-20 Whatever order you want for the next 10 teams who have no or one loss, but no wins over anyone of note.

Do I think ND is the 6th best team in the nation? Probably not, but maybe. But they have the best loss and a 20 point win over a ranked team. I could flip them and Auburn and be OK as well.

I like your list. Our defense and offense have outperformed the nations expectations. Your model has been right on point predicting scores, I thought of you when UND kneeled on 33, when it was 36 or 40 for sure.

You lost me when I saw Alabama #4.
