There are a couple of good websites I like to go to in order to keep up with the injury situation. This, for once, could turn out to be a big plus for Notre Dame. First and foremost we are basically injury free. The only players listed are Tony Jones, Elijah Taylor and Freddy Canteen.

Now Jones is third string and will be back soon so no big deal. Taylor would be just another back up on the DL but I think he is pretty solid. Now losing Canteen is the reason I decided to write this thread. Losing Freddy has helped the offense both now and especially in the future..

When I saw Chase Claypool was going to start I was downright Giddy. Now I think he collected about 4 receptions for just under 60 yards but that is HUGE!!!

Here are some things I noticed. Teams getting hammered with injuries include Florida State. Losing Francois was a killer but they have 15 players listed that will miss the next game. Can you imagine how ignorant were the pollsters that ranked them ahead of us?? They won't be there long.

LSU also remained ahead of us and they have 9 players listed. 3 of these players have 'undisclosed injuries'.

USC has 13 on the list and at least 3 out for the year.

North Carolina has 18 players on the list. Clemson has 8 and 6 are out for the year.

Usually the injury factor or suspension factor hurts us dramatically (especially at quarterback) but this year is starting to look a lot different and may help catapult us back into a more glorified position.

Watching a replay of Stanford and UCLA and Stanford lost their quarterback. Oklahoma has lost 5 players for the season.

This remains a viable topic as long as we stay relatively injury free. With Ohio coming up maybe we get another good week. Wimbush did take a pretty bad spill on a late hit by Michigan State but he appears fine. Season getting more and more exciting!!!

Two things:

Funny when these teams play back to back or 2 of their first 3 games against some big boys like ND usually does. They are seeing it takes a bit out of you.

I don't want to jinx us...but it is interesting that we got a new strength coach who knows what he's doing-guys look stronger, and coaches that stress playing tough and we are seeing the benefits early.

Love it!

Adams is a bit banged up and grabbed his ankle. Jones was out but should be back next week. I really like how we played our 4th tailback McIntosh and remained productive. I give all the credit to the coaches for keeping these guys healthy. Balis had them in shape and the coaches are rotating like I have never seen. This should pay big dividends as we get into the meat of the season.

Updated injuries for Saturday's game for Miami Ohio. They have a starting defensive back that is suspended for the first half. Three other starters status remains unclear due to injuries. They play linebacker, defensive end and running back.

For Notre Dame Josh Adams may not suit up due to stiffness in his ankle. We don't need to take a chance with him. Dexter Williams will absolutely shine and quite possibly we get Tony Jones back but he is listed as questionable. Of course Elijah Taylor remains out but that has led to the emergence of MTA. and Freddy Canteen is out for the season.

So far Miami lost to Marshall 31-26 ---defeated Austin Peay 31-10---lost to Cincinnati 21-17---defeated Central Michigan 31-14.

I really think this injury situation is going to play out in our favor as the season progresses. Now Josh Adams would be a huge hit but I expect him back after we dispose of Miami. But it is clear to me that losing Canteen has lead to the emergence of Chase Claypool and he not only has a bigger upside but two more years of eligibility and he will probably stay all 4 years and get his degree. Wasn't it great to see the development of McIntosh? Ten pounds of muscle and a redshirt year has paid great dividends. He should get more carries as Adams heals.

There's a rumor that Dexter Williams injured his ankle as well.

Also, Devin Studstill got banged up at the end of the game, but not sure of his status.

Why McIntosh was able to get the minutes but none of the ankles are of the High Sprain variety and all can play if necessary. But this far along, we as fans need to be pretty happy with the health of the team and despite the D playing a higher than desired number of plays, the ability to rotate so many players thus far, hasn't brought on the level of wear and tear when not as deep. Saturday will be a good test to see if we can jump out early, not play down to the competition and get as many players cycled through as possible. I probably just jinxed us but hope it will be the case. GO IRISH!

that is really cool. I really want Josh to have a monster year. Here in Oklahoma there is such a long list of great backs with 1,000 - 2,000 yard seasons. We need to start churning these guys out and attracting more great backs and offensive linemen. Really excited to see Tony Jones this weekend.

Rest Dexter. Seriously, I would not play him at all Saturday. I like what I saw from McIntosh. I thought he showed good vision and shiftiness. Almost like the scatback that we really need. We are loaded at running back when all our guys are healthy. Hope to see McIntosh get a lot of pt Saturday.

Get a load of this. North Carolina, next up on the list, has lost 13 players for the season due to injury. Of course football is very volatile and can change in a heartbeat, but I see us with two easy wins, a week extra to prepare for USC and an extremely healthy, confident and well prepared team to take on the Trojans at home. That is going to be one major weekend.

Add that the Trojans are wearing thin too ;)

Injuries lead directly to USC losing to Washington St. They were missing 3 of 5 offensive linemen and struggled with any consistency in running the ball. Haven't checked the site on injuries but USC got pretty banged up the other night.

Florida is ranked ahead of us at #21. They lost their quarterback for the season with a broken collarbone against Vanderbilt. Will they be ranked ahead of us next poll?????

Our running backs are pretty banged up but I don't think we have lost anyone for the season. My biggest concern is with Tony Jones and the shot he took to the head. Josh took an awkward hit but I think he will be 100% for next week against North Carolina. Really would like to get Dexter Williams back for this week.

Nice to have a 4th string back like McIntosh but he is not a great back. Not much power and not overly fast. He needs to get much stronger and he should do just that under Balis.

Still, the injury situation seems to favor us. We play North Carolina and they will be missing about 15 players Saturday. Losing Canteen lead to the emergence of Claypool.

I thought it was egregious that LSU was ranked ahead of us. Well, they lost to TROY. Poll will be a bit more honest this week.

Adams is a great back but he has had injury issues off and on for awhile. The injuries in the backfield are a bit of a concern since almost everyone on the depth chart got dinged to some degree but I'll wait and see how things progress throughout the week before I start fretting.

Last night was a classic example of the next man in philosophy when it comes to the RB position.

North Carolina has two defensive linemen that missed last week and could be back for Notre Dame (Dalton & Powell). They do have 13 season ending injuries.

Notre Dame could possibly have all 4 running backs healthy for this one. I just don't have any concerns about this game and I think it could get really ugly.

Time to get our short passing game working. Hello Chip! Are you reading this? Lol

Check this out. Michigan will be without their starting quarterback for several weeks. They also have a few injuries at DL, OL and WR. They play Michigan State Saturday night in the Big house.

When we played Michigan State I thought they could have won that game if they would just quit shooting themselves in the foot. What if an unranked Michigan State team beats #7 Michigan. Wouldn't they have to jump Michigan in the polls?? Probably not. But I don't see how they can rank Michigan State ahead of us if they should win. I actually think they are going to win this game.

I feel the injury situation is really going to help our climb up the polls.

The backup for Michigan played really well last week. I doubt Speight gets his spot back.

Apparently Wimbush has a foot injury and we were going to know a lot more today at 4:00 p.m. which has come and pass. Anybody have anything. Now of course I don't want Brandon to be out for North Carolina but I have the utmost confidence in Book. In fact, I was calling for him in our last procession against Georgia. Would be very interesting if Book had to start this weekend.

Grade 1 foot strain. Least severe foot strain. Brandons first college injury. Was on crutches because walking with the boot felt funny.

Game time decision but BW will want to play. Coaches may decide against it, but I'll assume he'll be the number 2 and dressed if he doesn't start.

ESPN had a blip on this earlier today. Surmising that they may better off with O'Korn. Speight has had issues staying healthy. Doubt MSU gives them a game. They play @ Penn St Oct 21, same date we host USC. Better have their qb situation figured out by then.
