Posted September 10, 20177 yr I hate to blame the refs but the momentum swung on that late hit call with the Georgia guys foot on the line clearly swung the momentum of the game towards Georgia. Ncaa needs to nationalize refs it's ridiculous at this point.

Tonight they were flag happy.
September 10, 20177 yr Author Well UGA is probably saying the same thing about the refs towards us. I admit I'm not a fan of activist refs. Tonight they were flag happy. B.s. that was not a late hit and his foot was clearly on the line and both calls went against us that gave them 30 yards to help them gain momentum in a game our defense was clearly stopping.
September 10, 20177 yr B.s. that was not a late hit and his foot was clearly on the line and both calls went against us that gave them 30 yards to help them gain momentum in a game our defense was clearly stopping. I'm not disagreeing with you. In the game chat I said I thought the late hit was a bad call, but refs are going to err on the side of caution when it comes to QB hits. I was paying more attention to the hit than the catch though. I was just referring to Georgia's take on the penalties throughout the game and how many of those calls they'd argue were incorrect and gave our offense, especially, new life on drives they stopped.
September 10, 20177 yr The refs called it consistently, I don't think they were unfair, but they called it too tight and overall Georgia was the beneficiary. That first Georgia td was a hell of a catch, but the ball was sliding down his body as he hit the ground. How's that conclusive to overturn??
September 10, 20177 yr I noticed they were letting UGA mug our receivers', and I think we may have gotten away with one also... - Again I'm not saying they were biased. I just have the feeling this officiating crew might not be big fans of the forward pass and that was the only way we were going to win lastnight.. So it worked more against us than it did for us. Had we been smart we would have told our DBs to be more physical once BK asked about the jersey pull and the ref shrugged it off like no big deal.. This is where I think not being a conference or having familiarity with officiating crews really hurts us. I know in baseball we had familiarity with umpires so we knew what part of the plate to really protect or our pitchers knew how to throw to certain hitters based off of his individual strike zone.. UGA has probably worked with these officials several times in the last two years and as soon as they see these guys, they know ok let's be a little more physical because these guys won't call it unless it's egregious.
September 10, 20177 yr Join a confernce so we get better officiating to offset bad playcalling and scheming that lead to disappointing losses? SMH
September 10, 20177 yr I thought the refs did a good job. Outside of the late hit call, nothing to really complain about.
September 10, 20177 yr I thought the refs did a good job. Outside of the late hit call, nothing to really complain about. I agree. There were a lot of personal fouls, but all of them were pretty obvious and clear after seeing a replay. They missed a few, the PI on EQ stands out, but no crew gets them all right. But the one they messed up was a pretty big one.
September 11, 20177 yr I thought the refs did a good job. Outside of the late hit call, nothing to really complain about. Agreed. The only reason we lost by 1 point was because of the refs. Could've easily been 14-17 deficit...
September 11, 20177 yr I thought the refs did a good job. Outside of the late hit call, nothing to really complain about. They make that late hit call all day and night, if it is on the QB.
September 11, 20177 yr That late hit call was complete bull5hit. HOWEVER, it is not what lost the game. Had Wimbush not fumbled on that last drive and made a few completions, then maybe they could have gotten in to FG range. Or on that same drive if the D could have gotten a stop. Don't blame that on the refs. If Ifs and buts were candy and nuts, then what a wonderful x-mas we would have. Starting a new hashtag... #BigGameBrian
September 11, 20177 yr I thought the refs did a good job. Outside of the late hit call, nothing to really complain about. How about the td they gave them that was reversed? No way that was conclusive. I knew we were in big trouble when that happened.

But big game is what they call Bob Stoops. Are you telling us something
September 11, 20177 yr Haha I like it. But big game is what they call Bob Stoops. Are you telling us something Did you see Bob Stoops jumping up and down at the Ohio St game Saturday as OU was putting it on them? Just from his attire, you could see this man is loving retirement. Not only do I think he's not ever coming to ND, I'm not so sure that he'll ever coach again. Him and his wife are loaded and think Bob will love retirement.

I also agree that his foot was clearly on the line. also what about the UGA touchdown that tied the game at 10-10. I was very surprised that the refs overturned the call on the field because from all the angles I saw you could not clearly see the ball to check if he had control of it or not. imo their was simply not enough evidence to over turn the call. I agree with ObieKnobbe we need to nationalize the refs.

The ball is out by a quarter second and he is a yard in a half in bounds when Okwara makes contact. Total BS call.

Total BS call.Thank you for the pic Corysold. Quite telling. What are your thoughts on the reversed td catch UGA had in the 1st half? I thought that was bs and not conclusive.
September 11, 20177 yr Thank you for the pic Corysold. Quite telling. What are your thoughts on the reversed td catch UGA had in the 1st half? I thought that was bs and not conclusive. I think that was one of those where the call on the field has to stand. I'd feel the same way if it was originally called a TD. Very close either way and from the angles they showed, I never saw enough to be able to tell for sure. I always thought if it wasn't 100% conclusive, it can't be overturned, but oh well.
September 11, 20177 yr Borderline? More like not even close. What evidence do I have you say? The ball is out by a quarter second and he is a yard in a half in bounds when Okwara makes contact. Total BS call. I thought it was closer than that. he still had his foot an the line, at worst should have only been a 15 yard penalty.
September 11, 20177 yr I thought it was closer than that. Looked closer at full speed for sure. I get why they made the call, but in a close game like that I think it needs to be more than maybe to have the flag thrown.
