So last I heard on either Pete Sampson's podcast or Mike & Mike, there were an estimated 30K fans coming up from Georgia for the game. Can we hang those capitalist traitors (people who sold their tickets to them) off the edge of the stadium?

I sure hope not. We need the crowd to be as pro ND as possible for sure. I realize they will, but I'd prefer no Georgia fans in attendance. 30,000 seems really high.

Tickets are going between $800-2000 for decent seats. There are a bunch of fans selling their tix to make a big profit on this game. Georgia fans will be coming in droves. Expect the stadium to be covered in red on Saturday and not much of a home field advantage. It sucks but that's how it will be.

It does suck, but ND has no one to blame but themselves. When tickets are over $150 face value in some cases for games like NC State, I don't blame someone for trying to make enough from one game to go to the rest.

ugh, this is going to be the 2000 Nebraska game all over again (see of red in ND stadium, what an embarrassment). makes me sick that a ND fan would do this, I say hang them.

It does suck, but ND has no one to blame but themselves. When tickets are over $150 face value in some cases for games like NC State, I don't blame someone for trying to make enough from one game to go to the rest.

 

Yeah I can't necessarily blame them when they can pay for season tix by selling one game. You just rarely see this with other big time fan bases. You wouldn't see this happening at OSU, Mich, Any SEC school, etc. that's who I said in the other thread this is going to be a major factor for our kids when they see how loud the Georgia fans will be. Our home field advantage is really negated.

Tix prices definitely go up in other stadiums as well for big games. For whatever reason the good, bigger fan bases just don't seem to sell the off like ND does. You see it happen at schools that aren't good when a big time opponent comes to town: for example when OSU played Indiana--half the place was OSU fans.

 

This ND/GA game is the highest selling tix price forecasted for this season so far in all of cfb. I was looking to take some clients to the game and decent seats were $1600 each just 3 weeks ago. I believe season tix for decent seats at ND run in the $4000 range--maybe a little more or less depending on the quality of seats. So if you can sell your tix for $3000-3500 for one game you have paid for the season or pretty close to it.

 

Now, if this were a big game late in the year and ND was undefeated with playoff implications on the line, I don't think the ND fans would sell off their tix. I just think it is still early and a lot of fans aren't sold on this team yet and would rather take the money at this point. It just sucks for the kids who would love to have a hostile environment for the opposing team.

I knew a guy that worked for ND food services for decades and he got an employee discount for season tickets. He used to sell his to this one rich fanatical ND fan from southern Indiana for thousands. He did it every year before the season started.

 

Over ten years ago, I was helping him with some work around his house when his cell phone rang. The guy had driven up here to buy them and he had to meet him right away so I went with him.

 

I can't remember where it was but they met in a parking lot, he handed over the tickets and was handed a hefty envelope stuffed with cash. He counted it before handing the tickets over and I don't know how much it was but it was all twenties and fifties. The whole thing felt so shady. Turned out the guy was a scalper who would sell the tickets at a major profit.

My OSU friends also like to note that Ohio Stadium has 20,000 to 30,000 more seats, which generally drives down the ticket prices.

 

However, the gameday environment inside the stadium is never great to begin with so I cannot blame those who attempt to sell for a hefty price either.

I hope it's not like Nebraska in 2000. That was embarrassing.

30,000 UGA fans in ND stadium, that's 1/3 of the stadium. that also seems very high to me.

That is because Notre Dame's campus stands alone as the iconic campus to visit as a college football fan. It is the Yankee stadium of college football. Most Georgia fans wont get a chance to see their team play in South Bend for years, if ever again in their lifetime. You don't pass up on the opportunity if you love college football.

 

I do not blame an ND fan if they can make a huge profit on this game. You would be crazy not to in my opinion, depending on the profit margin.

I sold my tickets for a pretty decent profit. If I had any faith in ND to win against a big time team, I'd be there. But, I do not have that faith and instead I'm paying for the rest of my tickets off of one game.
