I know UGA will be a much tougher sled, but if we are going to run the ball close to 50 times, can my man Dexter Williams get more than six carries? Thats a crime. Adams wont last with all those miles this year. Im not necessarily advocating a 50/50 split, but maybe 55/35/10 with Adams Dexter and Jones in that order. We got good backs and we need to keep everyone fresh. They are all good. Play them. Also, Wimbush took way too many hits yesterday. Id rather hand it to a back then risk him.

 

And it only took 8 years and a new play caller for BK to figure out that our strength is our offensive line.

It's pretty clear that Josh and Dexter are our breakaway threats. I would go 40/40/20% with the last going to Jones or Wimbush.

 

Have to love seeing success in the run game in any way, shape or form though.

I love throwing a fresh back at a tired defense, that's where those chunk plays really show up, also agree Wimbush needs to take less hits, but man can he run as well.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Beat the opponent down up front and then unleash the breakaway speed of Dex. Great to see them run the ball yesterday.

It's nice having 3 backs you can keep throwing at someone to tire them down. All 3 have roles and all 3 are good. Then you throw in Wimbush.

I saw that as well. I don't think Jones is as good as adams or Williams and may not ever be the feature back but one guys not bringing him down and he can get those tough yards.

I agree. ! O-line is fantastic and Dexter needs more carries. Wimbush got hit way to much!!

Forget Adams, I'm worried about our QB.. That kid is sitting in ice as we speak...

Dexter has the best initial burst out of any of ND's backs, and I don't think it's even close. He's to the LOS instantly. IMO, he should be splitting the majority of the time with Adams. Besides Yoon, that was my only true frustrating point yesterday...Moving forward, he totally deserves more touches!

Dexter is my wife's favorite back--she kept on asking why #2 wasn't getting more carries, I had no good answer since he was so explosive every time he touched the ball---I'll go with the bigger back was needed for pass protection, but she won't totally buy that....

Kelly has said he wants max 10 called QB runs per game and yesterday, Wimbush took off without his number being called. First game and hopefully things will settle down. Jones has been described as the best pass blocking and pass catching of the 3 so it's likely due to field position and down and distance. That said, Williams was the spark we needed and put us in position to finally finish a game. 14 pts in the 4th qtr was long overdue. GO IRISH!

Williams is our best back, he needs more carries.

Dexter is a true "power back", like a full back with some wiggle. He has more explosiveness than Adams and is more powerful. Adams is faster, better hands and more "wiggle" (slippery?) I don't think Kelly really knows what to do with a full back type (I could be wrong). Kelly wants "finesse" but he needs to learn that a great power back can get you those precious few yards when you really need them. Hopefully Chip understands that and it seems he does. Holtz would have loved Dexter!
